fuel pump
 

hey guys, i have a RHD 89 Turboed 7, im currently in the process of upgrading my fuel system. Ive uped my injectors from the stock 550cc to 750cc, installed a safc 2, and am just now looking for a new fuel pump. From all of my sources i have found the walbro to be a relieble pump. Recently a good friend bought one for his skyline. After installing, re-calibrating his safc 2, and doing multiple test runs round town he was totally un-satisfied with it. Now i was wondering what, if any experience u guys have with the walbro, and wether ne of you guys have had ne problems with its preformance. If so, also any alternatives that have worked out for you, keep in mind my injector size when making a seggestion... eagerky awaiting your response... :dunno:

I have been running a Walbro 255 with stock primaries and 720cc secondaries for over 2 years now. I also use an SAFC 2. I haven't had any problems. I see boost as high as 15psi on a normal basis and still no problems. Just make sure that you rewire the pump to bypass the shitty stock wiring. There should be a write up on it in the 2nd gen archives.

I use a walbro and have for a year and a half (Ill be using one on the T04-S TII in the spring, so stay tuned - hehe) and had no problems

Although there is certainly no doubt that a pump such as say - the aeromotive A1000 - will far outperform a walbro, however at nearly 3 times the cost...it seems to me to be a pruchase for extreme applications...

There is always other O.E. options that save you the noise of the walbro (which isn't REALLY that loud) but a nippondenso pump from a supra will provide plenty of fuel (more than the walbro) without the noise...

I can't even hear my Walbro unless I have it running with the engine off.

Super rotor man, what kind of hp are you wanting? That might determine the what fuel pump you need.

400 flywheel or wheel hp? If you are talking about 400whp then you'll need bigger fuel injectors than what you just bought.

Why? Without knowing what he didn't like about it we can't tell you if his experience has any relevance to you.
