Fuel Pressure Regulator Settings
Ok, my 7 has never started very quickly, it would take about 10-15 seconds while pumping the throttle from a cold start. My JDM engine came with a weird aftermarket fuel pressure regulator, (external by the way, the factory one was removed and the hole soldered). Anyways I bought a adjustable FPR with a gauge on it and now my car won't start at all. Ive adjusted it continuously and the only thing ive been getting is a few loud pops from the exhaust. Flooding??. I read somewhere that the starting psi should be around 70psi ? When I turn it up that high my walbro fuel pump won't pump cause it's too mush pressure. Or unless the gauge is off and it's higher than it's reading. Help?

After the fuel filter it should be close to 30psi.
|
So 30psi when the fuel pump is running and the engine is off?

Fix it, it was just flooded. I did have to crank the psi up to around 50 though to keep it runnin

36 psi static ( no vacuum , as idle will be lower and it will depend on your idle vacuum )
examples with fuel pump relay bypass and or a decent fuel pump may idle a little higher 42 is not unknown or abnormal as such most external regs will usually be set up as 3 bar ( 43.5 ish ) ( no vacuum,, idle will be lower ) as that is what most injectors are rated to,, and so keeps the math easier |
I had the car's fuel set at 40psi,and it seems to be a fine setting.

Yeah I think i set it around 40 now. Come to find out I was very low on gas and I guess thats why i had it up so much. What's a good vacuum pressure at idle by the way?
