Fuel Pressure Regulator
I'm not sure if anyone has covered this but;
what are some good indications of a bad FPR? and what are some symptoms of an FPR going out? |
I'm leaning towards a fuel problem, the car wants to just idle, I can barely raise the RPMs above 1500. i've got good fuel pressure, had the injectors cleaned, replaced the fuel filter, and I couldn't see any fuel leaks either.

At idle the pressure should be about 28-30psi and if you idle and pull off the vacuum hose from the fpr the pressure should be about 37-39 psi. If it idles fairly decently and won't rev above 1500 it might be a corrupt tps. Disconnect it and try again. You real sure your sparkplug wires are on right? Your timing is spot on? Using a timing light? |
I checked the fuel pressure before the FPR, while the car was off. I have checked the spark and I had decent spark too. The TPS though, I ran a couple of tests from the book. The TPS ohmed out fine and it swept fine through opened and closed throttle. There could be something else that I;m missing. I'm pretty sure the timing is fine, because it was driveable before; I was driving when this started to happen. The car was fine up to that point.

There isn't a "limp-home" mode on RX-7's right?
|
Only on series five. None on series four that I'm aware of.
