Fuel line leak
 

I have a leak at what looks to be a hard brake line but fuel is coming out. I don't have any pics but i stole this one from google. The line is cut and blocked off with a phillips screw. It's the one on the very left with the black rubber piece attached. Does anybody know where this line is supposed to lead or how to properly block it off? Car is a 86 NA, emissions and bac removed.

that looks like the fuel return line.

it should be hooked up to the rat's nest, or if that's gone, to the fuel rail.

that is actually the fuel tank vapor line, i suppose if you overfill the tank a bit in combination with heat it could push liquid fuel out of that line. capping it is a bad idea, venting it to a safer spot is a better idea as the tank still needs to breathe. venting it into the engine is the best alternative or at least back into the charcoal canister, if it's still there.

stock vapor system is actually useful in this scenario, otherwise you have fuel vapors going wherever.

I assumed it was the return line since it was leaking, but Karack is right it could also be the vapor line. It's impossible to tell without a picture of the actual problem though

The canister is gone. I'm thinking about routing it to the the hole on the oil filler neck or on the dynamic chamber where the bac used to be. Which do you think would be better? I will try to upload a pic later if i can get my camera to work.

Don't route that line to anything except the canister. Otherwise fuel fumes will get in places you don't want them. I have mine just wrapped in a rag, but someday i'm gonna get a proper filter for it. Or you could retain stock functionality and grab youself a can and an egr valve. Some say it helps gas mileage... I don't know

definitely not into the crankcase... unless you like toasty engine bearings.

Just hop on the wanted to buy or for sale section. Im sure multiple people would gladly sell you the canister and bracket for next to nothing! Matter of fact I have a spare canister (but I can't find the bracket). $5 plus shipping its all yours. Fix it right and avoid both the obnoxious smell and hassle of trying to filter and reroute it

on my old z I got a small inline lawnmower fuel filter from autozone plugged right in. was able to vent & nothing got back in it
