Fuel Injector BAD!!
 

I own a 88 Turbo II and had all my injectors cleaned by RC engineering. Car ran great, but now has this problem. Floods out when starting to the point where you can smell raw fuel in the exhaust. Car will start with aid of fuel cut out switch. Car has split personality.. runs good.. then cuts out becuse of two much fuel, then runs poorly.. no power. I pulled the plugs this morning, and after sitting all night, the #1 Trailing plug was wet with fuel.. is this a indication of the PRIMARY fuel injector leaking? Any ideas because I have two old injectors I'm going to swap out in the morning, I'm hoping I have one bad fuel injector causing this problem.

How are the plugs and wires. I was recently having a flodding problem with old wires and newish plugs. Hooked up a timing light and I was getting intermittent spark letting the car progressively load up while it idled until it's finally flood and die. Replaced the wires and plugs and it seems to have cured itself. Atleast the spark is strong again.

John L....have you thought about checking for a leaking injector while you have the intercooler off and the intake? Just (all difficult things start with *just*) take the bolts out of the secondary injector rail and hang the injectors out of their bores. Zip tie the injectors to the rail. Turn the key on (no start car), jumper the fuel pump jumper on the r/h strut tower(I assume cars newer than my 87 have one) and that should pressurize the fuel rail and you might be able to see if the injectors are leaking. Swap the primaries with the secondaries and look at them also. You could also make a jumper to the injector plugs to see if they leak after turning them on and off. One thing that has occured to me since you said the injectors are relatively new. Perhaps a bare wire on an injector plug is putting a ground on the circuit intermittently causing a problem. Might give them a good look over. Just some tree shade mechanic things to think about.
