Fuel Filter
im picking up an 87 GXL off a board member today and the car is in real good condition and runs good but stumbles and cuts out at like anything over around 2500rpms. do i need a new fuel filter is it clogged? or do i need to buy new injectors? if its the filter can you point me towards somewhere cheap to pick one up and same for the injectors. thanks

i just ordered the fuel filter from autoparts.com for $16 but do you really think this is my problem?

try a full tune up, plugs all filters and liquids
|
yeah could be bad plugs. how long have you let it run for? change the oil and then rev it to redline a few times. before you change the plugs try the ATF trick. Also make sure that all the grounds are good. Never hurts to add a few more.

i dont think the ATF trick is going to help you here...id change the plugs before you even considered doing that.

You should probably do a full tune up anyways when you buy that car. just to see if there is anything else wrong with it. :) But most likely no. hehe

whats so bad about the ATF trick? i thought it was good for your car restoring the compression? only thing is that you have to replace the plugs and o2 sensor at the most.
because i was gonna do it, should i not? |
whats the ATF trick?

puttin automatic transmission fluid in your engine....threw the spark plug holes....I woudn't mess with it.
