Fuel delivery problem.

I have an '87 rx7, base model, standard. When I try to start it, it won't start. I looked while someone tried to start the car, and on the engine behind the alternator, by the fuel rail, there is this cylinder that has a nut on it that goes into the block, and when I try and start the car fuel squirts out from around the nut and the car won't start. The part is hard to reach, and how do you fix it, and what is it. I really need help so I can price the part and fix it. this is all my car requires in order for it to be drivable. I have pics of it and wheere it is located if anyone needs them to help me figure out what it is, and how to fix. Thanks.(pic is not my engine, but it shows where part is located)

Sounds like the "fuel dampener" which smooths the flow of fuel. Get it replaced ASAP as it's a fire hazard.

"fuel dampener", about how much does that part cost? And how hard is it to replace it? Because I can't even reach it well enough with a wrench or anything to loosen or tighten it.

Well, I looked it up, and it is not the pulsation damper, it is actually below it and to the right. I now have a picture of where it is on my engine, and this is what it looks like. The pic isn't the greatest, because getting light down there isn't easy. So if anyone can tell me what this part is called I woud really appreciate it.

Well, I called a dealership, and they told me the name of the part that is actually leaking. It is the fuel delivery pipe, now would the leak on this part have to do with the fuel pulsation damper, or is there a seal on the delivery pipe when it goes into the block that could be coroded? because fuel just squirts right out around the nut where it goes into the block.

I'm afraid your mistaken. What you see and describe, is one of the oil injectors. It sits just under the fuel pulsation damper. I'm sure what you see is , is the fuel from the leaking PD, spraying or dribbling on the oil injecotor. The oil injector itself does not contain fuel and cannot spray fuel. Never ever. The best thing you can do, is take an hour out of your time and pull the dymanic chamber, then turn the key to the on position and then jumper the fuel test connector near the right hand strut tower. That action will pressurize the fuel rails and you can confirm that the PD is the culprit. Then its just a matter of screwing it off and replacing it and putting the dynamic chamber back on. Its just a bunch of bolts and screws. Not in the high tech area 'atall. A small fee is required for the new PD. Go for it.
