fuel cuts

I am getting my fuel cuts as soon as I installed my custom 3' exhaust coming right from the flange and 2.5' y-pipe back to the mufflers

is there any way of eliminating these fuel cuts without getting an fcd

YearsOfDecay 03-17-04 10:30 PM

you can try putting your stock air box back on.. but.. the whole point of putting an exhaust on is to get more boost/power.. the stock ECU cuts at 8.6 psi.... with a 3 inch exhaust.. its gonna be hard to keep from hitting it.

there is a place that you can send your ecu to get a chip installed that removes the fuel cut ecu code
search for "RTEK7"

TurboII2NV 03-18-04 08:22 AM

ooo ok
I will search for that
I dont know if it can be tuned on the dyno to prevent that

where could i get a fcd?
and how much are they?
and are they hard to install?

they're pretty easy to install, and the cheapest route is to make your own, it's easy enough if you know how to work a soldering iron: http://www.fc3s.org/how_tos/electrical/fcd.html

it can't be tuned on a dyno to prevent fuel cut. It's in the computer when it sees boost past the preset limit. You can find a FCD at ebay or even in the classifieds. you can probably find em around 30-50 bux. They are not hard to install.

Sometimes you can find a racing beat or knight sports used for around 50 bucks... I wouldn't go any higher than that for a used on though. (i know what's in 'em!!!)

I make them as well. I can sell you a complete one, or a printed circuit board and a parts list. The printed Circuit boards will make your life a LOT easier if you plan on doin it yourself.. no jumper wires, everything goes right on the board like a factory unit.

assebled FCD's are 30 bucks.... printed circuit Boards, assembly pics and parts lists are 7.50 (parts will you you about 15 bucks or so from Mouser with shipping)

No Problem..

complete FCD's come with COLOR (ooo ahhh) instructions, diagrams and................PICTURES (wooow!!)

keep in mind, you dont have to cut anything, you are just going to be hooking into the stock connectors and they are marked out in the instructions with what wire goes where.
