Fuel Cell...??

Well, i've come across a fuel cell from a guy i know for real cheap...$20 to be exact, and I was just wondering if it would be worth it to put it in? I know that i'd be able to do a real kickass external fuel pump and what not...but I was just wondering if you think there'd be any actual decent weight savings beyond that. Does anyone else have one thats been hooked up? I'm just curious. I went ahead and got it but I just need some backing on it being a good idea. BTW, my car for now is pretty much stock 10 AE TII. I realize that'd be chaning a 10AE which is kinda taboo, but i'm not much looking to sell it any time soon so I don't really worry about keeping it original. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks guys.

besides not being legal it would save weight though. You fuel capacity would be reduced I believe, which means more frequent stops at the gas station.

How much HP are you looking to make anyway?

I don't really think the legality of it really matters around here. If one of the iowa cops were to see it he'd probably just think it was...uhmm...just nothing and think nothing of it. Yeah, the fuel capacity would be reduced..but thats no big deal to me I don't think. Yeah, i'd be stopping more frequently, but maybe the weight reduction and bad assed external fuel pump would be worth it..thats what I'm hoping for anyways. I'm really not looking to make all that much crazy hp. I'm thinking that I'd be more than happy with something like 250rwhp or somewhere in that range. Something decently attainable with a pretty modest buget i'd like to think.

if thats all ya want keep your stock fuel pump. i put out 224 HP on my S4 motor with almost no mods to it...

The only way you'll save weight is if the cell size is significantly smaller than what you've got now. There's a good thread on the pros and cons of fuel cells right now on the Improved Touring board. General consensus is that cells are just as heavy or heavier than stock and could be potentially more dangerous if they are not installed correctly.
