front suspension noise

Well, I just installed my new suspension: AGX's, eibach springs and polyurethane bushings. Here's the deal, when cornering, I can hear and feel in the steering a popping noise coming from the front suspension. It seems to be coming more from the passenger side and when turning right. I am running 225/50 bridgestone s03's on stock wheels on all four corners. I've heard that those are pretty wide tires in comparison with other brands that size, so I'm not sure if its the tire hitting the springs or what. The previous owner had wheel spacers(1/4" i think) up front so I left those on originally. I thought maybe the tire was hitting the fender so I took out the spacers and it still does it. If anybody has any insight on the situation, it'd be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Aaron

Well any 225/50 tire should be the EXACT same size shouldn't it?

Is this the stock size tire for your TII?

dont TII's run 205/55 stock?

2a+RoN 11-02-03 02:02 PM

either 205 or 215 stock i think

well i just took off the wheels and looked at the springs. I found no marks on the springs where the tire would be hitting it. However, I did notice that I can move the springs slightly separate from the strut. Is this normal? I'm sure it wouldn't move easily with all the weight down on it, but I'm just not sure if that's the noise or what.

on full turn my wheels touch my springs and since i got the new tires/rims on ive been hearing some weird noises when turning, so i think its time i got some spacers =/

I have the same problem as you do, Aaron.
I also installed lower springs and Prothane bushings some time ago.
Ever since then I have gotten the "CLONCK" from my left front wheel???
Im thinking that it could be the steering tierods thats worn out or the maybe the ball joint. They could have be worn out for awhile but you would first notice it when getting the harder bushings

I used prothane bushings as well. It seemed like my ball joints were good when I did the bushings. Hmmm, this is very interesting.

maybe your wheel bearings came loose a little bit, mine did it , and it turned out to be the wheel bearing wasnt tightened down good. good luck

So, got an update on what that popping noise was?

Kim 05-02-04 08:00 AM

Mine was a not so tight Swaybar bolt:doh:

I will check those. I know that my end links are weak. Thanks!

I am scared because I have the S5 control arms.
