front brake pistons will not budge

I am having a lot of trouble getting new front brake pads in because I can't get the pistons on the inner side of the caliper to go back in their bores. The pistons on the outer side of the caliper sqeezed in just fine. This situation is the same on the other front brake also. I also noticed that the brake pads wore unevenly (one pad worn more than the other), like the pistons that are stuck aren't pushing against the pads either. Do I need to overhaul the caliper?

thanks

sounds like it. what type do you have on?

also check your brake rotor. Your parellelism and runout might be way off. Use a micrometer, If i remember correctly the runout cant be more than .005 and parellelism cant be more than .0006?

Then again, sounds like ur pistons are sticking. Have you tried to place a C-clamp on the inside of the piston, and seated the outside on the back of teh caliper and twisted the C-clamp till it slides in?

I had to pull the whole damn caliper off and put it in a vise tighten it till the calipers retracted. That un-froze them so to speak.... worked great since then.
I' pulled some calipers off an 87 and am currently rebuilding them. I'll be gettting crossdrilleds and be putting them on in the summer when i go to put my summer wheels back on.

they are the factory calipers. I've tried the c-clamp, still didn't budge. I guess the pistons are sticking. I've decided to put new rotors on while I'm at it, and definitely can't get those bastards to budge. I drilled off the heads of the screws, the rotors are just rusted on I guess. Any suggestions?
