Fried afm need a pic

Friend Fried my airflow meter. I opened it up looks like 2 solders broke not sure where the hell they go. I need to see a pic of the airflow meter case shit without the black cover. anyone knows what im talkin about it would be very nice to see a pic.

It is below airbox, on square metal piece. cover is glued on, black, long half circle shape, need a close up to see where to resolder wire.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Garrette

Found a pic, there is no solder inside visible not sure as to y mine was soldered. Maybe jimmy rigged. no cash till friday, no other car till saturday

if its going to be hassle, I suggest pick-a-part. it maybe a 20 dollar part there but if you find a decent donor car theres a good chance it'll be in good working condition. I think. haha good luck man.

the three middle wires are those soldered to the board??? every thing looks good but it wont run. found broken solder with no home. car ran good earlier

88t2romad 07-06-05 01:58 AM

yeah, the number (from left) 3, 4, and 5 are soldered, also the #5 one is soldered AND has a wire running off of it.

EDIT:make sure you have clean little blobs of solder, and it isnt bridging any other stuff inside the afm.

Thanks alot for the help man, that told me what i needed to know, no one else knew what the hell i was talkin about. now i would be interested in knowing what the terminals actually do.

88t2romad 07-06-05 02:15 AM

not a problem man, i can only guess what one fo them does. Did you get it running?

one2spooku 07-06-05 02:28 AM

one2spooku 07-06-05 02:29 AM

RotaryEvolution 07-06-05 02:36 AM

if it had enough juice going through it to blow out a solder joint then the AFM is toast.

one2spooku 07-06-05 03:14 AM

got pulled on, not electric, dumb freinds arm

RotaryEvolution 07-06-05 03:29 AM

The third from the left and the fifth from the left are the ground circuit. They are one and the same thing and should ohm out to each other much like touching both meter leads to each other. Like 0.000 ohms.

The first and second from the left are for the fuel pump Circuit Opening Relay. Just a open/close switch.

The fourth from the left is the Vref from the ECU and should be approx 5vdc.

The sixth from the left is the output of the afm to the ECU. The *wiper* if you will.

The seventh is for the air temp sensor.

That's in the fsm. You need to download one and take a look.......or just swap parts for the rest of your life. Your choice.
