freez plug failure??????
i just finished swapping in my fresh rebuilt and ported motor and it started ok minus my flooding prob from my injector(i have 4 new ones to put on) and it started ran fine was full of coolant, drove it around hte shop 2 times then , i stopped to check my headlight,
getting ready to drive around the block and saw collant under my car , i checked all the hoses and nothing. Then i notice it was leaking from the bellhousing!!!! i put the car on the lift and pulled the lil rubber plug from the tranns bellhousing and coolant dripped out , is it possible that one of my freeze plugs was ready to pop out from the many previous overheats on the motor, and having run on a bad seal for a while and a coolant leak. but now the motors coolant system is under full pressure and poped on out or allowed on to move and leak? |
check the water Orings between the Lower Intake manifold and the block. do a search Its been covered a couple of times

It's coming out of the bell housing not dripping off it. Read the post better. Yes, it sounds like a freeze plug.

he just described the exact same thing that happened to my car. I was totally convinced it was a freeze plug there was coolant comming from the bell housing. I remember removing the little plate that goes under the tranny and coolant just poored out and no it was not a freezeplug it was the Orings on the LIM. however Im not going to make a piss contest out of this, It was only a sugestion

orings " ON" the LIM? what the hell......how is that going to contribute to coolant not being present anywhere but the back of the iron? everywhere else is dry?

Thanks for replying and being a biiggg help, although i did not properly use the search function like i should have, i found the problem it wasnt orings , that hose off the rear iron decided to magicly spilt it self and leak down the side and pool up in the spot between the housing and the LIM and then stop leaking and dry up the day i first encoutered the problem, i replaced all the hoses once agian, and a few other things like injectors, but next time im in NC im going to message you and buy you lunch
