The frankenstein motor (pics inside)

ME an RX7 nut13b are working on this right now (well I'm on the computer). This motor is going to have a s4 turbo with a ported wastegate.
Its an S5 motor and we are going to use all the s4 intake stuff, front cover, ect. It is going in my 88 vert.

And yeah, we're keeping the sleeves.
And we are still debateing as to if we should bridge port the secondary main ports.

RotaryEvolution 01-03-07 02:06 AM

you may want to trim the sleeves some

BASTARD 01-03-07 02:13 AM

are you going to bring the opening side of the port out some or leaving it stock
https://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b...n/IMG_0560.jpg

Rx7_Nut13B 01-03-07 02:27 AM

He is wanting to try and keep it driveable in the lower rpm range, so i am going to do a light port job on the primaries and do some crazy stuff on the secondaries and 5th/6th Ports

I have all ready trimed the sleeves to match the bridge.

Also, someone is going to say something about the inner side of the port template not cut all the way out, i am really paranoid about the oil control rings, so I try not to port inward at all

What type of ECU/Fuel System are you running

I was plaining on using a Turbo II Ecu with some 550cc Primary and 680cc GSL-SE Secondaries

spoolnblue 01-03-07 01:37 PM

stock everything, j-spec s5 short block assembly. everything else is s4 turbo.

so your block is turbo, the one we're useing in N/A, s5 N/A iorns, housings and rotors. We are also porting the exauhst a little and useing T2 diffusers insdtead of the N/A ones.

Here is my finished 5th/6th Bridge Ports, I love the fact that you can turn them off.

Awesome, someone who is doing the same thing I am going to do. I was having problems finding someone who has done an Aux Bridge on a N/A engine.

Has anybody driven one yet with the sleeves functional?

RotaryBuddha 01-03-07 08:26 PM

very nice. cant wait to hear that thing.

I run the 6 port on my s/c SE. Personally, I really "really" like the functional 6 port bridge, hell of a plan! Only thing I would suggest is using pineapple inserts. I know there are a lot of opinions about them, but under boost I really think they would make a difference. When I compare the dyno graph from code blues (streetport 4 port 13b) camden set up to mine (this is an early one of mine, it does much better now with larger carb and better exhaust) , I start to fall off at 6500 while her power curve was a consistant 45 degree climb. Just my "opinion" without any personal experience with the sleeves (can't run them on mine due to manifold design). How are you going to actuate the 6 ports, electronic or pressure. Just think of how you could actuate them at idle if desired to bring in the brap brap if wanted, again just another idea. I going bridgeport this winter on mine as well and looking forward to the results.

Foe now we're going to actuate them useing a "manual" method; a choke cable operated by the driver.

:rlaugh: hehe

I was going to use the pinapple inserts on my build and I was going to have a switch in the dash labled "Brap" lol.. Would it really be pronounced though if actuated at idle since the aux bridge is so much smaller than a primary and secondary bridge?

How could the pinapple inserts cause any harm if properly installed? Are they the same material as the sleeve? I was thinking about machining a pin to fit in the end to make sure among the other things recommended to install them it would have one more thing to resist engine vacuum.

We where thinking about going crazy with this motor, and i kinda got a ok to do that, but I didnt feel like messing anything up on this motor.

BUT the next motor is going to look like this

http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...uperbridge.jpg

philiptompkins 01-03-07 11:51 PM

lol @ last pic. IDK if full length is the right answer, how about half or 1/3 length on that bridge? haha. Anyways it looks like its really coming along (i missed out today).
And BTW guys, as far as ECU is concerned we think a T2 ecu and pressure sensor should work but I'm looking for a cheap megasqurit somewhere.

forced inducted fd dude 01-04-07 04:09 AM

this idea is hot sex. i cant wait to for results, hope you guys post video clips of the start up!

Rx7_Nut13B 01-05-07 05:05 AM

All right

Here is the progress on this monster

I got the motor together tonight (3:30AM) and man, that is some good compression

I have one question that i just couldn't get a answer to, We just found out that we don't have a S5 Flywheel to go with the S5 Rotors, here is the question.

Can i use a front S4 and Rear S4 flywheel with the S5 rotors, I am thinking that it would not work do to the different weights.

If it would not work, Phil is looking for ether a S5 Flywheel CHEAP!! or a CHEAP after market flywheel.

Also I had to make some quick changes to the center housing, i was checking all my ports one more time to make sure everthing was ok, when i noticed that i (MAY, i really cant tell) hit he oil control line by mistake. I really cant tell if it is hit but i wasnt going to chance it, so i went to my parts and got a Turbo II center housing that i will port match the intake to.

I have uploaded a video on YouTube of the motor turning over my wrench, sound really strong, I was feeling frisky and attached a Compression tester and was getting 45-50psi hy hand......... O YEA
