im not sure wuts up with this 13b i got but i got it last year, i know it has a monster street port, and i was told it has 12 rotor? whats the purpose of that?
and also the holes for the motor mount that goes under the oil pan into the block are not there.????:Wconfused can eny one explane that? im having some guy drop it in for me so i dont have to deal with it :) but i dunno how is he gonna put that mount there.. |
its a 13b from a gslse 1st gen
|
Pics.
|
Prob a 12A.. but a 12 rotor engine.. just damn.. and I thought 4 rotors would be amazing..
|
i forgot to say this, according to your description its a 13b from a gsle but i cant say im 100 % sure cuz i havent seen a pic.
|
i will put a pic up in the morning but the guy i got it from made it clear it was a 13b of a secon gen but with 12a rotors so i dunno but i will post up a pic in da morning...

oh really?so if it turns out to be a 1 gen gsl can that be swapped into a s4 ?
|
The mounting arrangement between earlier engines and the 2nd gen 13B is totally different. The earlier engines mount on the front cover, the 2nd gen 13B mounts on the center iron.
The earlier engine can be modified to fit, but really, why? |
after fabbing up some motor mounts and getting the manifolds for the correct engine, yea, sure, it can be... it may not be pretty tho
|
Pehaps he meant or actually said it corrcdtly and your botching it up, but 12a side plates. The older 12a's had HUGE center/intermediate plate primary ports and racers of the older 13b's used the 12a intermediate plates because of those big ports in their 13b race engines.

heres the pics, so is it a first gen 13b?

oh and the reason i want to swap this into my 2gen bcuz i just hade got a rebuilt on my old 13b and it now has a blown fron rotor (thanx to the police inpound over
revd it) and now i just need to get to work so thats the only choice i have.... |
Looks just fine to me :Wconfused Standard S5 n/a motor.
|
WOW, super big on the exhaust ports and its missing its sleeves. Thats not going to make shit for torque.
~Mike......... |
that right motor mount and bracket is not suposed to be there it should be on the bottom and have a bolt that goes thru the oil pan,It has S4 housings not S5 but a S5 Plates.
|
so 2gen 13b or 1 gen????
the reason for the s5 front cover, it was going in a s5 vert but had changes of plans...
but the engine was in a first gen n the guy part it out bcuz he step it up to a fd so he dint want it he told me it came out of a s4 na and that his boy from mazda trix put in 12a rotors...:Wconfused that right motor mount and bracket is not suposed to be there it should be on the bottom and have a bolt that goes thru the oil pan,It has S4 housings not S5 but a S5 Plates so im still lost is it a 1 gen or 2gen? |

well your title is correct. That is a frankenstein motor imo.
I hope you didnt pay him for it and or atleast I hope you had a compression test done on it. First thing is you need to realize it does not have 12A rotors in it as they will not work in those housings. If you are lucky and it does have compression I say you tear it apart and sell whatever good parts it has on it. It is not going to be a simple swap into your car and there is far to much mis-information or mismatching parts on the engine for it to be a simple bolt in. I am interested in who this person was that sold it to you and who "his boy" at mazdatrix is. Sounds like something that guy Gary that the west section keeps warning people about would do. |

The mount on the exhaust side is very interesting...I have no idea what that possibly came from but someone has obviously custom drilled the center plate. Post pics of the same area on the driver side, and the oil pan.
I still think it will be more trouble then it's worth to fit this into your car. I'm not quite sure what kind of engine that is. The end plates look like S4, the center looks like GSL-SE. I'm very confused since this combination can't exist. |

I'm very confused since this combination can't exist. i will update with some pics shortly...i used those hole to place that mount there n when i had it in my s5 vert and it sat in there pretty good i just did not trust it,afraid that the bolts will come lose..The reason i pulled it from my vert was bcuz i did a crappy job by using cheap sylacone for evything so it ran like shit, when i got it to run...so i pulled it out n parted out my vert. so i know it will bolt on to the mounts but not so sure if i should... some one is selling me another 13b for 300 buxkz is there a way to check for compression with the block outside the car.? or check if its good by any other signs? |

Spec. |
is a first gen sixport 13B of a GLS-SE
|
The front rotor housing doesn't even have the oil metering pump line going to it. But the rear does. Was it premixed at least?
Also how long has the engine been sitting for? |
