fpr problems
i removed the rats nest on my 86 gxl and i put it all back together and hook the fpr vacuum line to the nipple on the back of the uim under the bac. fuel is going to my fpr but not coming out. i have fuel pressure i have vacuum i bought a brand new fpr and it's still not letting the fuel go through. any suggestions

do you no longer have the FPR control solenoid???
|
Dear sir, the fpr has squat to do with the fuel flowing thru the rail.
Nah. I didn't write that, did I?? I think your fuel hoses are on arse backwards. Nornaly the fpr will regulate fuel pressure, but only b/t approx 28 to a max of approx 50 (something you'll never see on your n/a). The only time I ever saw a fpr cause no fuel flow.....was when I tried to use the burnt up one that came with my first turbo car. Things kinda melted inside and restricted the flow to zero. Just swap the fuel hoses and see what happens. It cost you nothing but fifteen minutes of your time. I bet I just beat fifteen other people who were about to write......fuel lines crossed. |
Re: fpr problems
You have connected the fuel lines the wrong way around. The supply line from the filter goes to the primary rail (with the pulsation damper) and the return line goes to the secondary rail (with the fuel pressure regulator).
|
hey i bet your fuel lines are crossed...
|
are the primaries the top injectors because that is what the fpr is on and the pulsation dampener is on the bottom rail and i have the feed line going to the top rail and the return line coming from the bottom rail... is this right or am i wrong?
|
No, the small rail bolted to the engine is the primary rail, the long one bolted to the manifold is the secondary rail.
