FMIC & Oil feed line Questions
 

First off regarding the greddy FMIC. I still have power steering and a/c. According to the greddy instruction manual you're supposed to break the 2 bottom lines to the power steering pump to gain access for the pipe. Just so you can visually picture it better you have the 2 top most lines coming into the pump and then underneath those 2 you have 2 small lines that have a pedestal mount. Doesn't make sence to me because well your breaking lines that are functioning. Anyone clarify that for me?

I'm doing a rats nest removal. I have a jegs oil catch can on the way and mostly everything taken care of. Except for when it comes time to get the oil feed line connected... On the s4 t2 the line is welded to the spider. I could just break the welds on the pipe but don't exactly want to do that. Is it possible to get an s5 replacement to swap directly in or do I need s4? What did everyone else do? I'm aware of 95nracer's ss an setup.

i dont know about that powersteering question, but if you are asking where to hook the catch can to why cant you just use the nipple on the oil fill tube?

might as well get a stainless line IMO.

ah, the oil feed line for the turbo- got it now. There are adaptors out there you can use, I dont know how a stock turbo set up would work with it but Himni Racing sells the adaptors and the hoses.

Thanks rob, exactly what I was looking for if I was going to go ss. It's overkill but it looks like that's the only option.

Did you encounter any problems with fitting the ps pipe through to the tb? I'm having a heck of a time.

I have a manual rack, the throttle body IC pipe takes some swivel action to get just right

I didn't want to make a new thread for this question, so here it's.

For the tb pipe on the fmic, what have you guys done with the a/c line that looks to be in the way. Just a replacement longer hose? What type of hose would you have to get for that?

I took my hose to a hose shop and in about 10 minutes they made me a new hose for a cost of $40 with new fittings. Only reason I had to get that hose made in the first place is because I am running all custom AC system.

I was not aware the hose is in the way, try some moving things around a bit more to see if you can get around it.

About the power steering lines, you don't BREAK them, you break them loose and turn them a little. Take a look at mine:

The ac line is not in the way. Just take the nut loose, lift the ac line, put the tb elbow and fmic piping down, then bolt the ac line back down.

razzle dazzle there you go, loosen everything and wiggle things around, then makes things tight when you are all done

i had to bend the bracket that held the power steering lines to the pump, bend the small bypass tube to the reservoir as well. the bends on the throttle body pipe end are fucked, i had to chop about 2" off the end to even get it to fit and it still was mashed up against the brake master cylinder so i have to cut even more off again.

wish i had made my own kit instead but the rest was easy.

The power steering lines, I was planning to do the same thing. It sucks I can't permanently setup this fmic... Still got alot more work to do and I mangled my stock bumper so that I have no choice but to get my body kit on and get it sprayed. Probly not a good idea to put the fmic on and have $1200 sitting out in the open.

all that banging and hacking does not sound right, it takes some fitting but you would have been at the mercy of the shop doing the pipes as to how much they would have charged you.

Take the price of the core, and the TB elbow, and the couplers out of the equation and the pipes are a bargain when you consider the quality of the greddy welds.

the greddy bends are shit bro.

i scratched the fuck outta the pipe getting it in there. if you want to keep the power steering and A/C it definitely is not a great fit... the fact i had to cut the pipe because it wouldn't fit speaks for itself.

all the other greddy kits i saw installed fit close to the same, pushing on the brake master cylinder reservoir telling it to get the hell out of it's way. the last bend on the pipe is far too sweeping of a turn, at least on the pipes i saw. there is different series kits available with different core and piping sizes as well so that could be it, the last one i installed was the largest they offered and i'm still doing tweaks to it to get it to fit better.

dont know what to tell you, im just saying if you leave everything loose and rotate the pipes it works. You cant tighten it as you go, it all must stay loose.

Even then I know you have to cut the pipe that goes to the turbo, they cant predict everyone's turbo set up.

The quality of the greddy kit is great but i'm not so impressed with paying $1.2k on non polished pipes. I payed $700 brand new from a private seller, but I mean come on. I had to work on them a bit.

they do have a pre-polished kit. that's why i was rather annoyed with it when i scratched the piping up trying to get it sandwiched in there only to find i had to cut chunks off to get it to fit.

you can work them a little more, sanding will get them better.
I did not even know they sold polished kits, if they were all polished someone would complain they did not want polished, lol

the polish will just go to shit anyhow, damm things would probably be dull before they made it stateside
