FMIC Cooling Spray DIY idea!

Well, I've been thinking. After reading the other FMIC thread about HP gains about a intercooler water spray.

I know some people which spray there intercoolers at the track with nitrous.

Well my car came with headlight sprayers/washers. I was thinking about routing them to spray onto my FMIC at the track to prevent heat soak.

Say dump a bunch of ice cubes and water into the tank for the washers.

Or is there something else you could use in place of water?

What do you think?

Or route them to spray in front of the car and pretend your purging your nos! :D

i have seen this topic many times. you want to use rubbing alcahol. it evaporates faster than water, so it cools faster than water.

What about rubbing alcohol? ;)

**edit**

Hey stevensimon, it was my idea. My computer is just running slow ;)

why would you want to put water all over the race track? the lost of traction could cost someone to get hurt including yourself. think smart not stupid

water sprayers are not allowed at most tracks

i remember on my friends wrx, for fun we put a thing of dry ice on his stock tmic, man it ran soooooo cool.

Windscreen and headlight spayer nozzles are useless for an intercooler spray, as they spray a solid jet of water. For an intercooler spray to work the water must be sprayed in a very fine mist. Your nozzles would not have any effect on IC temps.

You could do it at the burnout pit. Plus by using rubbing alcohol it would evaporate. Also you could find a different jet.

Buy a sno cone at the snack bar & toss it in there before a run.

But please don't call me stupid :P

I believe there are very minor gains to be had if you got a different nozzle than the windshield washer ones and mounted them up front or where ever your IC is. Maybe you try ice in the tank with water.

Buy an aquamist nozzle and plug on your own pump.

I have a pump for sale or trade in the for sale section on this forum. It not some cheap fix tho, its the real deal.. check it out.
