Flywheel removal.
 

How do you guys get your fly wheel off? do you use the tool or is there some sort of trick you can use? And I broke the part where the tranny bolts to the top part of the housing so does anyone nowhere I can get a new rear end plate for a decent price?

I have always used an impact gun and just zinged it off....you'll need a huge socket....I can't even remember what size, its over 30mm though, and more than likely a 3/4 to 1/2" adapter since any of the sockets large enough I've seen are 3/4" drive.

Now, if the motor is out of the car on the ground you might have a little more difficulty - I have heard guys on here talk about building system with wooden wedges and huge long pry bars.........but seriously I have never had trouble taking that nut off.........

A good tip though is screw the nut back on a few threads when you are prying on the fly wheel, cuz when that baby pops out, you'll be eating flywheel cookies if you don't have that nut on there to stop it.

I just answered a question on this the other day, I swear I did. Anyways, zap the nut off with a gun. Thread it on a lil and beat the hell out of the outer edges of the flywheel with a rubber mallet. Threading the nut on a lil keeps it from taking your head off in case it falls.
As far as the part you broke, I'm not sure what your referring to. Take a picture and we can help.

A 2 1/8 inch socket is what you'll need.

ya thanx. I got the nut off with a impact no problem. I did that a while ago. I just can't seem to get the flywheel off and the part I broke is the hole that the transmission bolts screw into. I'll try to beat on the flywheel with a ruber mallet

use a long pry bar as well, slip it behind the flywheel and pry against one of the lateral nuts....pry one side then the other, viced versa, short of that beat the shit out of it!!! If you haven't knocked the ring gear off yet, you aren't hittin hard enough - lol

get a ballpin hammer and smack the middle of the flywheel a few times on the eccentric shaft, it will jar it loose every time.

be care full when pulling the flywheel off,i used a bar to take it off and it jumped on to my forehead almost knocking me out

if you cant get the socket get your self a chisel and a hammer thats how i got mine off

Anyway socket size = 54MM as well ;)

He has the Flywheel nut off.....he is trying to get the actual flywheel off the e-shaft.....please don't hit the e-shaft with any type of hammer.

Use the pry bar method and pry at one side while hammering on the outside of the flywheel then switch sides and repeat.
