Flywheel Removal??
Does Anyone Here Know How To Remove A Flywheel? I Have A 1986 Rx-7 And For Some Reason I Can't Take It Out. Is There A Certain Way To Do It. Or If You Show Me Where To Go Where It Explains It Or Shows It, It Would Be Cool Too.

should've searched.. jsut a thread a day or two ago.
get a big impact wrench and a 54mm/2 1/8" socket. lefty loosey righty tighty on the the center nut. |
I Took Out The Nut Already But It Still Won't Come Out.
Probably stuck. Get a mallet or a hammer or something and smack it on all sides all around a few times going around in a circular motion. After that try pulling again, repeat as much as necessary.
Ummm.... Are U Sure It Won't Break? IS THIS THE ONLY WAY TO TAKE OUT THE FLYWHEEL?
Its a big piece of steel, you think it'll break? Don't hit it with all your force or something, just hit the outside edges of the flywheel. I've done this on tons of different motors/flywheels in rx7's, works every time.
If you have a mallet, use that first since its rubber and hit it as hard as you want. |
Alright Cool, Then I'll Try It Out. Thanks
I use a rubber mallet and beat the hell out of it working in a five star pattern. Comes right off.
So I Guess It Happens A Lot. I'll Try It. It Suck Cause That Been Causing Me Not To Drive My Car.
you should leave the nut screwed on a little though so the flywheel doesnt just fly off or anything when youre hitting it though
Well See You Guys Later I'm Going To Go Try It Ill Tell You How It Goes.thanks.
