Flywheel Question

Can I use an Exedy ZF01 flywheel in a 1986 NA 5 speed or is it for turbo tranny's?

Will it bolt up the the auto counterbalance or is it to big?

I have all s4 parts, flywheel, drive shaft, etc and an s5 tranny that I was looking at putting in.

your flywheel must be a turbo flywheel if you are going to run it with a turbo transmission.
If you stick with the NA flywheel then you have to run an NA trans.
The flywheel will not hook up to the starter any other way.
The TII and NA flywheels are different size.

Right, it is all NA parts. Exedy on lists one flywheel, as well Rotary Resurrection, for the RX7's. They have 86 as an option and with no turbo in made 86 i was wondering if any has had experiences with using the Exedy flywheel in an NA tranny.

Sorry for not being very clear.

Well, the website does say this:
Application: Exedy Chromoly Lightweight Flywheel Mazda RX-7 Base / GXL / Turbo / U 1986-1991

So, the other question...do you need to use the counterweight or just bolt it to the auto counterweight already on the car? Any need for the Exedy counterweight for this application?

If any needs to know it bolts right up to the auto rear counter balance.

From Atkins:
Q. Will this flywheel work with a 1986 na tranny?
A.It will work, you will just need the rear automatic counterweight.

Q. So, if I have the auto counterweight I don't need to by the exedy one?
A. Correct, rear auto counterweight from your year car will work.

And they were wrong. It is for a turbo tranny only.
