Flushing coolant

Wondering if there are any known problems with flushing the coolant. Is there a potential for air pockets which then tend to overheat the engine? any special 'techniques'?

I'm editing just to be a bit more specific. If I drain my coolant, and I refill it, will I run the chance of air pockets? If so, does anyone have a 'shade tree' technique that may assist me in avoiding this.....or do I have to rely on the worthless mechanics at Mazda?

One of the reasons for using the Mazda brand thermostat is the small air bleed hole. Just fill it and start it up with the cap off. Then as it’s about warmed up rev it a few times, top it up and replace the cap.
