flowmaster exhaust question

I happen to have a flowmaster 50 series in my basement, never used, and I was thinking about using it on my RX, but I remember reading something about them blowing out. Is that true?

I want to replace my Y-pipe with a dual out muffler and run straight from the muffler to the bumpers, for rear clearance (I hate scraping) and perhaps to keep room available for lowering. Would a Flowmaster blow out in such a situation?

It may. The rotary engine runs way hotter than normal engines. Some mufflers last a couple of miles is as bad as it it. but if its built well it may last a year or two.

If its placed in the same area as the mufflers(or close) it should be fine. Using it in place of say the cat, would likely kill it.

What about right behind the cat, in place of the Y?

I've had a single exhaust with a 50 series in the traditional place for a year now without any problems.

Check your warranty. You may have to find it on their web site.
On some models is says not for rotary engines.

As was said above, the issue is the pre-silencer/cat location.
If it's too close to the hot hard sharp exhaust pulses of a rotary, they will bang the baffles loose.

If you are running a header instead to the stock iron box collector, the issue is amplified.

FLOWMASTERS sound like ASS on a rotary. I tried it and took it off after 2 weeks

Mine doesn't and others have told me that the like the sound. It's a bit loud for me, so I'm probably one of the least enthusiastic about it.

i had one. it sounded fine, just a bit loud.

how long would a RB full exhaust system last ?

I have a normal set of glass packs on mine and it gives it a nice tone and not to loud untill I stomp the gas.
