flooding probs
of course this prob is coomon, but my 87 turbo II has been flooding out more often, and i have to do the whole pull the fuse thing. i dont know what wrong HELP.

i had the same problem, but mine was so extreme the pulling the fuse didn't work so i always had to remove the two lower spark plugs and crank it so the extra fuel in there would shoot out, then i had to quickly put the spark plugs back in and start it. Turned out my fuel regulator was leaking. I would say fuel regulator leaking or faulty injector, but i think fuel regulator is more common.

If you want to make things easy and painless. There is a wire under your steering collumn that goes to your fuel pump... You can CUT this wire, and 'wire in' a switch to turn the fuel pump ON and OFF.
This is called a 'fuel cut-off switch'. You can search for "How-to's" and pictures of what this wire looks like. My TII used to flood terribly. I had to do the EGI fuse removal trick EVERY single time to get it to start. After installing this switch (in like 15 minutes), all I had to do was turn it to the OFF position, crank the motor until it "caught" and then quickly flip it to the ON position. Very easy and painless. This obviously doesn't FIX whatever's wrong with your car, but it's a nice band-aid. |
You may wnat to start watching your compression. Lack of compression is a symptom of hard starts.....often confused with flooding.

Thats cool your gettng into the 7's welcome to the wonderful world of rotary power!! im thinking about putting a kill switch fir the time being. But thanks so much u helped me out remember no rotor no motor lol
