Flooding Out Bad
everytime i shut the car off i have a hell of a time tying to get the damn thing to restart,it sitsan floods out everytime.what can i do to fix this problem

Install an on/off switch for the fuel pump so when it is flooded, you just have the fuel pump switched off until if fires and switch the pump back on. Also gives you another anti theft device.

Is there a more permenent solution?
Another thing to try that should almost always work is the fuse trick. 1. Pop hood 2. Pull the 2 EGI fuses (they are the 2 top ones, one red, one green) 3. Crank engine for ~30 secs 4. Replace fuses 5. Crank as normal Should fire right up.. if not, repeat. This almost always works to unflood the car |
Check this out...
its a little ciruit that will prevent the computer from starting up in fuel rich mode if you turn off your engine without it getting out of the cycle. http://www.our.net.au/~pnt/afm/rx7_RX7.html have no idea if it works though.... does anyone have one... would love to get the electrical schematics/design of the thing so i can build my own. |
go with the switch, i had been reaching under the dash and pulling the very same plug that i could have been wired to for over a year or so. i now have a new engine from atkins rotary and had my injectors rebuilt and cleaned, and haven't had to since. if i do just once, i'm putting in the switch.

i have been doing the switch thing fo a while now,but when its cold it strts right up with out a problem.bt when it arms up if i shut it down it wont restart it just floods.

The more permanent method is getting the injectors rebuilt or buying brand new ones.

You might do a search on this. Myself and other have spent some substantial dollars trying to solve this and have ended up getting the $2.00 switch in the end. It works every time, is cheap and easy to install. Some of us have tried NEW injectors at over $800.00 and still have this problem. I MIGHT be low compression but I think usually it's a combination of problems. I have replaced all sensors, plugs, wires, had injectors rebuilt, checked OMP, and lots of other things and my car still floods when hot without using the switch. Use the switch and be done with it (at least that's what I did).

Here is the link to a thread where I posted a bunch of pics today. The wire you tap into is the black one with the white stripe...Read this thread, it should point you in the right direction. Rat |
