Solder points that have become 'cold' are points that have broken loose. You need to removed your cpu, headlight switch, and you might as well remove your warning lights and wiper switch and resolder all the points in them. Or get someone to do it if you arent good with a soldering iron. Then put them all back in and everything should work fine.

But look in the FAQ at the top of this forum.

This can also be caused by a loose connecter on the altenator.

Just to clarify - A "cold" solder isn't mechanically broken. It's mechanically sound, but electrically unpredictable. Sometimes it conducts, other times it doesn't, and other times it conducts partially. It's usually caused by a poor job of soldering, like heating only the solder, or only one of the components to be soldered together. So,...If you have cold solders and you go looking for broken solders, you won't find any. Cold solders are tough to diagnose exactly because they aren't broken. Often, but not always, they will have a dullish look to them, instead of being bright and shiny.

sounds like your alt is failing or the clock warning panel needs re-soldering.
