fixing driver side door handle
is there any way to fix my driver side exterior door handle?
i took it out and the solid metal peice connecting the handle to the operating rod is broken... is there any fix that would be reliable and cheaper than buying a new one? or should i just buy a new one? |

I can tell you from experience (I HAD to try) that you can't solder it, braze it, weld it or epoxy it. Just get another one. Don't bother talking to the dealership, they'll screw you with no lube and a sandpaper condom. Just find a friendly salvage yard with the handle you want or find one of our forum folks that has one. I got mine from Kevin (hypnitz) and it works great! Didn't cost much either. :D

The door handle for my '91 was $165 brand new and painted the same colour as my car. Done once and good for at least 15 years!:D The wrecker wanted $85 and it was the wrong color so it needed paint and had already been used for 15 years! Hardly worth the work to save $80 not counting paint and effort to do it! |
