Finally got my '88 Vert running, got ?'s

Well I just finished doing a motor swap on my s4 vert. Things run great except for a few odd issues that I'm hoping you pros can help me correct.

I have no right turn signal. By that I mean when I flip the turn signal switch to the right I have no blinking green indicator, no rear turn signal and no front turn signal. Both rear brake lights work as well as the reverse lights. I am thinking it is the turn signal switch but I was hoping I could get a second opinion.

Second, the car is idling strange. I'm thinking vacuum leak, it doesnt idle below 1500-2000 no matter how much I adjust it. It will idle flat at about 1500 but if I turn the steering wheel or give it a little gas it starts to hunt between 1500 and 2 grand and then steadys out about 15 seconds later at 1500. When I am driving down the road, if I hold the pedal steady it bucks quite a bit but if I am accelerating it is fine.

Thanks for any advice guys.

Ben

do the hazard lights work?

and it sounds like a vac leak and TPS is out of adjustment

Have not tried the hazrds yet but I will in just a second.

Also, Icemark, I know there is a page on reseting your TPS and using bulbs to see if it is working correctly but the only link I can find for it is dead. Anyway you can shoot me a working link.

Thanks,

Ben

Alright,
With the hazards on, only the drivers side turn signals work, hope this helps. BTW, is the turn signal switch the same for coupes and verts?

Gonna go to radio shack and pick up some LED's and adjust my TPS today, see if that helps any.

its possible the lights are just blown? im pretty sure the switches are the same.

if the turns don't work, but the hazards do (even partially) then you have a bad flasher board in the CPU. You can try re-soldering the board yourself, or I have already rebuilt boards available on my webstore/site.

If it was just a bad bulb (or two) the dash indicators would still work, but they would flash fast.

Well, I cant open my damn trunk to even see if my just my bulbs are bad. I've done the turn the key counter clockwise trick and opening from inside latch, still doesnt work. Using the key in the lock doesnt work either .... sigh.

Also, I can faintly here my right turn signal clicking very fast when I try to use them to turn right. They volume of the clicking is the same for the left side but they work.

Three, tried adjusting my TPS using the LED method, got one light lit but my idle still fluctuates. I have no idea how to check the ohms of my TPS since my multimeter is analog, I cant read the damn thing. I tried using a different TPS and it did the same thing. When started up, idle jumps to 3 grand (like it should) and then drops to around 1500. It raises slowly to about 1800 then drops again to 1500, repeat. I am out of ideas.

Help .... me ....

Oh, I didnt find any vacuum leaks, I used some non chlorinated brake cleaner and sprayed around the DC and IM to no avail. I also used a rotunda smoker to see if I could spot any leaks, nada. I do have a leak where the header attaches to the exhaust system but its pretty small.
