finally got an aluminum hood!!!

After having my eyes on a n/a aluminum hood at the junkyard for a few months, I finally got enough $$$ to get it today. Perfect condition, but needs to be repainted(its white, my car is black). It is so light compared to my steel hood. Oh yeah, I paid $75 for it :D

Ill have some pics tomorrow.

Nice! It's unreal as to how much more the steel hood weighs than the aluminum one.

I hate my steel hood with a passion.

RarestRX 02-20-02 07:50 PM

Yo,

Good job! Now you know what it's like to have a GTUs. Gotta love the lightness!

if you wanna get down to the nitty gritty, yes. just remember professional drag and autocross racers dont get that fast by passing up the little things. (find a drag car with a steel hood) everything matters

It may not be noticable by itself, but every little thing helps.

I have one for sale if anybody wants it, it is white as well

RarestRX 02-20-02 11:18 PM

Yo,

Dude, TELL me you aren't going to put a TII hood on your NA. I don't care if you're going to get a TII, or turbo your NA, but please don't rice out your rig like that. *grin*

No, not getting a TII hood. Im going for the sleeper approach. Wildly ported turbo engine, big turbo, EMS, etc.
BTW, would it really be embarassing for my car to have a TII hood? I am easily faster than a stock TII, much closer to a modded one(lightly ;) ).

get on AIM!!!!!!!!

DC350 02-20-02 11:56 PM

i hate all you people that hate ricing, ricing looks nice all you sleepers, whats wrong with lowering the car? with neons? i bet there are alot of ricers that can kick yur ass. i have had enough with this "ricing" dont rice it man, thats not cool, dont rice it, you can't rice out your RX-7 you rice hondas. Ricing is for hondas, not RX-7s

grab the hood hinges, I've heard that the ones for the steel hood react with the aluminum and eat the hood slowly, I'm not sure if it's true, I heard it on here.

ive heard that too, but if you put on the different hinges.. wont it just eat the car body instead of the hood?

no, it would eat the hinges. paint is a wonderful corrosive repellant
