> Finally Coming home to my 7... now a question about RHD Swaps...

> Ok, so this is my first post in 7 months or so; 7 Months of boredom in Iraq and I have somehting with a "7" to look forawrd to for once.

> Now here is my situation. A few weeks ago I purchased a 1991' JDM FC3S Clip from Canada. My mech, and buddy just got all the parts in two pallets, and he says everything is there to complete the swap, except the steering rack and crossmember. I emailed the company I got my clip from and the guys there tell me that I don't need the steering rack and or crossmember.

Well, obviously I'm not there at the moment, and this is my first time trying out a JDM RHD swap on a 7 I own, so... Do I really need the Steering Rack/Crossmsmber that was part of the original clip? Or is there a way to use the steering rack on my 7 right now, but utelize it like Ass-Backwards?

Anyone out there who knows please help.

Thanks fellow Rotorheads,

Cpl. "Panda" Gorospe, USMC

sounds complicated but if you can fab up something go that route..i would think that there are differences between the usdm steering rack and jdm one because the steering rod is on opposite ends. i see what you are saying about the rack ass backwards dont think that will work but hey i never did this either so good luck...someone that did this swap chime in and good luck with the conversion

that doesnt make sense about the rack...

it should of came with the front clip in my opinion. and flipping the US Steering rack doesnt seem like such a good idea( in my head.). But it might work. I'd do some research on RHD swaps and hopefully someone with credible knowledge will chime in.

I would assume you could use the USDM cross member. i mean, there shouldnt really be any difference, unless the USDM crossmember moves the engine more to passenger side of the engine bay for the steering rack. But i doubt it does. Since one Firewall is used for both the USDM and the JDM, i would take an educated guess and assume the crossmember is in the same boat.

But again, the steering rack issue, i have no clue about...

Yeah, hope someone there knows. I mean I can always send for the rack that came with that clip. They had to break it into 2 pallets due to the EPA's homo-ass rules about shipping front clips from Canada. Guess it's no longer allowed.... so in the process of seperating the body from the motor + tranny, somehow the steering rack ended up not coming to Cali.

And I guess I need the crossmember as well... someone just showed me a pic of a RHD vs LHD crossmember. The bolt pattern is the other way around.
