Fender Support Brace Installation Manual
 

Been searching around for two weeks to find if anyone has some sort of installation manual for the front fender brace.

I've bought a set of FEED's version that's not installed, tried looking around on the internet, send emails to the USA distributor of FEED, and also emailed FEED in Japan... no responses from both. Just want to know if I'm missing any of the small hardware.

Would appreciate very much if anyone has something, or some leads. :)

Do you have pictures of them? I got Nagisa ones and I want to see if they are similar. I also cannot find installation pictures/guide of them on the car.

This is a photo of what I have, bought it off from a forum member.

Might be missing a few little things so I sent email to both the FEED distributor in the States, and also FEED in Japan. No response whatsoever.

I would just pull your fender off and try to figure out how it mounts. There is only 3 parts per side.

Edit. A quick Google image search for nagisa fender brace provided several pictures of how these are typically assembled. While the car and mounting points may vary, the pictures provide insight as to how they are put together.

Never understood the purpose of these.. You're adding bars to an area of the car that's already pretty rigid and has no effect on handling. To each their own though. I like duck tail wings. Useless but I like them.

I have searched up on other fender braces on Google, but I can't quite figure out the smaller parts - what's the purpose and where do they mount to. :scratch:

Prior to your pic, dj, I had no interest in this sort of brace but now I've very curious as to what the hell that thing is/does.
Oddly, it's agricultural and overly complex at the same time.

i would just put it on, and see where things go. the bottom is bolted to/with the door hinge. the top i think requires drilling, and the plate with the nuts in it is probably slid in, so you can actually bolt the thing down.

Any insight on if these work in an FC?

no first hand experience but i've got two thoughts.

number one is that they can't hurt, they strengthen the A pillar to the shock tower, so that should help.

the second thought is that, maybe making that stronger, focuses the bending force in the area between the A pillar and B pillar, which is the weak part of the car, structurally, which is not ideal.

bonus trivia, FEED used to have a bar that went across the floor behind the seats in addition to these fender braces

I'm not installing these just yet.... working on other things with the car first. Will get some photos going so that would help others down the road.

What I know is that these help to strengthen the front chassis for better response of the front end during cornering. Especially when a front strut tower bar and an underbody brace are also installed, it creates a caged-like reinforcement to the front chassis.

Supposedly this stiffens the chassis in that area and adds to handling. I personally don't buy this as I don't see how its applying additional rigidity without being connected to the opposite side of the car (such as a strut bar or cage). It just seems like a bar slapped on the side of the fender. I could be completely wrong, but I see little value in it.

I'd also take my statement with a grain of salt though as I have angled exhaust pipes on my FC. Super duper functional. (functional as in I can launch beer cans out of my exhaust)



j9fd3s- Do luck also made a similar bar for the WRX. Almost bought one when I had an sti but decided to spend my money on POWAA.

The bottom 2 holes bolt to the lower door hinge.

For the other 3 holes you line it up and drill through the car. The metal brackets with the nuts welded on allow you to stick the nuts through existing holes to get to the back side of the holes you just drilled.

The fender braces pictured are for an FC. Every tuned Subaru in the world has a set on it. My 2.5 RS actually has a flimsy one added stock.

Your whole car is sitting on the strut towers which isn't actually terribly rigid. It triangilates that whole area nicely.

I have a set that I never installed because they're not class legal. I do have a set on my corolla though and it improved braking noticeably.

Oh yes I remember the flimsy one Subarus. I installed a couple sets of upgraded braces on WRXs. I remember my friend saying they helped on his Subaru. Who's did you buy for your FC?

Nagisa Auto are nice. FEED looks like rebranded Nagisa.

Ultra racing makes some too, that's what I have on my corolla. They're not as nice, but probably easier to get. (you can get them on eBay instead of having to go through a jdm importer )

After a quick search the Nagisa ones are only $40 more than the Ultra units.

The nagisa ones are aluminum btw. I think the feed are steel but not 100% certain. Regardless they are supposed to help with braking for the front which helps transfer weight to the front tires allowing better turn in.

is this still usefull if yo have a full cage with pipes going to the front shock towers thru the firewall?

Other cars that have that setup are still running fender braces. 240sx, gtrs, etc. I'm sure they are still useful?

I wonder if this will reduce the front end of the car sagging when I put it on jack stands.

I'm pretty sure my nagisa ones are steel, but I'll verify when I get back home in a few days.

If you want to unload them, let me know and shoot me a couple pictures.

Ah you are right they are Laser Cut Steel. They feel really light so I assumed it was aluminum.
