FD Upper on an Fc.

I know guys have done it,But my question is what throttle body is used?.
I would like to Run an FC throttle body on the FD upper intake/middle,using that spacer..blah blah...Will it work?..OR,can you wire the TPS of the FD throttle body to Work like a s4 TPS?..as usual Thanks Gents.STYX.

joeylyrech 12-28-08 05:41 PM

use the FD Throtle body and yes you can wire it like s S4 TPS(switch type)instead of full reading

Thanks for the answer Joey,That saves me alot,I thought "oh God!,I have to modify stuff to get the TB to work as s4 with the Rtek..Shugarr!"..anybody have a Diagram they can point me to for hooking up the TPS?.Thanks again,Styx!~

Boosted11 12-28-08 11:07 PM

+1 on getting more info on this subject! I'm looking to do this mod as well. Anyone make premade spacers from fc lim to fd uim?

eage8 12-29-08 10:47 AM

this has been covered a billion times :p:

the only spacers I know of that are still being made are FEED spacers, and they're like $450...

there is a narrow range TPS wire from the FD TPS that you need to splice into your TPS harness. the FD TPS needs to be adjusted so that the narrow range TPS wire has voltage of around 1 volt closed and at least 4.5-4.8 volts WOT. See FD FSM page F-168. There are two adjuster screws used to set the TPS...they like to strip out. you can replace them with allen bolts.

Thanks ARGHX!.Actual Info..and very Specific too.Excellent!
Eage8.no Soup for you!
the setup I was interested in has the spacer..but no throttle body.
..ARGHX..can you Send me that particular Page of the FD manual,or Someone please Send me a Link to the FD manual?.
Again thanks.STYX.

why? the whole idea is that the FD TB is larger then the S5 TB

joeylyrech 12-31-08 12:32 PM

FD upper

2 Attachment(s)
Here is my brothers setup,S5 bridgeported Keg,S5 lower manifold and port matched FD upper(no spacer here)we welded some aluminum material in order to get the manifolds runners to fit 100% perfect without using any spacer,we make our own gasket out of cooper material in order to get a perfect seal(not needed you can use regular gasket material to make your own gasket),he also used the FD Throttle body(ported)and tps, before the car was bridged he drove the car on a streetport with the FD TPS on a stock n333 ecu(S4 turbo ecu)without any trouble at all.Go for the FD throttle body you will feel the diference.

Hey guys,
I will be make spacers again but they will be made out of cast aluminum. I'll have about 100 made. Im trying to keep the cost down. They should be ready in a month. So if you are interested lmk.
Thanks Robert

When someone does buy one, they should rig it, test it, go to the dyno, make a run, put the original intake on, make a run, and post results.

One test > 1,000 expert opinions.

Thanks Joey!.I am gonna be doing this in the spring,so knowing that it Can be done gives me HOPE!..I just gotta sort out the TB issue(I may need one...NOT right away,so no pm's guys!.heh),and the Tps wiring...you guys have helped immensely. Thanks for the Detailed info.Cheers,STYX.

this might sounds pretty dumb but..... can this be done on none turbo fc's?

slick_ep 01-11-09 12:25 AM

is there anyway to do this mod to a s4 intake manifold?

The ports on the S5 are easier to work with than S4. The ports are different on both so you cannot mix them.

JWteknix 01-17-09 09:39 AM

With a spacer it will work on an s4 tII manifold. Ask me how I know

I wanna see it too.
The S5 and S6 ports are close enough to port the S5 but when you port TO MATCH, not close enough, the you'll be cutting too far into the walls on the S4 LIM.

boosted1205 01-26-09 09:19 PM

This an S5 LIM on an S6 gasket and as you can see how much need to be cut for a smooth flow. Imagine S4 being worse.

JWteknix 01-27-09 11:07 AM

I do have pictures there is a lot of Porting to to be done to directly match the S5 lim to fd with out an adator plate. The thing with the s4 is not the runners so much as it is with the mounting points when I get on my comp I'll post pix and info an adaptor is absolutely nessisary so is hole enlongation on the fd uim holes you will also have to do some thing with the mechanical Omp

misterstyx69 01-27-09 03:35 PM

I am using an S5 Keg JW,and it is going in an S4 N/A car, going turbo.
The keg as I said,s5 with s4 front cover,Omp deleted, running premix on a RTEK 2.1...(damn that is starting to sound good, and I don't even have it in the car yet!).
