FD Torsen or S4 Clutch?
 

I know something similar to this question has been asked in the past but I feel this one stands out enough to ask.

After checking up on all the threads discussing each, the S4 clutch type LSD seemed to be the stronger choice between the two. The torsen was said to be prone to breaking even under hard launches at stock FD hp levels, which im beyond at this point.

The appealing aspects of the torsen to me were the very quick lookup, reliability & longevity and how smoothly it engages. But it appears that reliabilty is questionable now.

The S4 T2 diffs have quite a few miles on them at this point so id definetly be rebuilding using MazdaComp parts. The S4 T2 diff has also been compared to the Kaaz 1.5 way and is said to be virtually the same.

My worries about using the S4 T2 diff is how quickly it'll wear & tear? My driving is limited to open track events here & the occasional spirited drive on the mountain.

Any input from users or each?

S4 TII clutch type for drag racing.

i would say go with the s4 tii clutch every time, imhmfo. They're rebuildable, too.

Stock piece of shit...
I got no problem recommending a KAAZ or a Cusco unit, but stay away from the stock piece of shit. If you like rebuilding diffs every year, then go for it - even rebuilt, they don't last very long.

I don't know what you're looking at doing, but a Torsen is pretty capable, unless you're a brutal drag racer and/or running over 300hp to the wheels?
