FD intake manifold on TII LIM
I did search and i got tired of searching after about 30 minutes. I've heard you can bolt a FD UIM to a TII LIM by using a special spacer. Is this true and where can I find the spacer?
|
where is this thread?
|
Can't remember. But you can do it with an adapter plate (you have to use a TII LIM). Apparantly someone dyno'd a TII with a stock and a FD manifold and there wasn't any power gain but it showed a significant increase in low end torque. That and it looks way better.

there has been one for sale for like 5 years in the 2nd gen parts section. I think Buell is the guy selling it...
|
so,they use fc or fd throtle? and where can i get this adapter?or it's only custom?
|
I here there are no gains from it besides looks, but I have no experience with it.

FD TB, lots of gains
A guy on here has a dyno sheet that was initailly mis-read, then turned out to be a nice gain. |
fc3s91 has a few left for sale, $150 shipped. Its a nice piece. Don't know if the power gain is worth it or not but I'm gonna find out.

How do I know the adapters suck? Because I used to run an adapter before I sold that crap and dyno'd before and after with all else equal. Later, I properly port matched the runners which involved tons of work with a welder and porting tools. I then re-dyno'd the car which showed a small power gain. btw, I have my old setup for sale :D Professionally polished and PROPERLY port matched and includes a modified GReddy tb elbow for the FD tb to be used on an FC. pm me if interested. |
stylEmon - I searched but I could not find the post you were refering to. Could we get a link to a thread that has before and after dyno results of the FD uim please.
Thanks. |

You will loose power with those adapter plates but not as much as doing a hack "port match" like most people do which is utterly stupid imho. If all you are after is the look of the uim then do whatever is cheapest.

The ones fc3s91 was selling match the manifolds, maybe not exactly but a few minutes with the dremel will take care of that. |

However, the sudden shift in intake direction around abrupt corners is not optimal for flow. There is no way to properly port match the manifolds correctly with the adapter to make the swap beneficial. Even if you dremelled them out to smooth the transition, you are ovalizing the runner and increasing the area suddenly. No bueno :icon_tdow |
Interesting. Well I doubt I'll notice much of a difference anyway, my power goals don't exceed 350 if that.
|
From the looks of that dyno graph there was a significant amount of torque gained. Peak power didn't change all that much but it hits 1k rpms earlier and is maintained. |
