FD Intake manifold on fc questions...
 

hey guys, so a couple of questions here about managing to use an fd UIM on my s4 t2.... i have a streetported rebuild with a 60 series ptrim t4, rtek 2.1 and supporting mods with absolutley no emmissions and every possible thing that can be stripped out/removed/blocked off done..i feel the extra air would be nice and i love how thefd mani is way further away from the block and how it sits nice and tall.... I happen to have accuired a Rising RPM fc-fd manifold adapter plate with the fancy hardware lol... i also happen to have a really mint powdercoated fd maniold..... what im getting at with this is what all do i need to make this run correctly????? fd tps sensor...? fd throttle body? fd idle air control?? annd will these items run properlly wired into my s4 wiring harness somehow???? rising rpm makes all the nifty parts to run gm camaro tps and IAC but i realize i would need a standalone cause my computer wont recognize this stuff.... thanks for the help, ive tried searching!!!! a million friggen random threads come up as hits with anything with fc or fd or UIM so its hard to narrow to what im looking for!!! ggrrrr

You do need the fd throttle body,throttle cable,tps,aic and is good 2 have the air temp sensor 2.
The correct way 2 do this is with a standalone ecu.

I used the S5 version of the RisingRpm adapter.
I stripped everything off the upper manifold,took off the garbage off the throttle body and used the TPS on it.
The AIT is a fast reacting one..BUT I got a Haltech PS1000.
I used the TII cable and just made a simple "U shaped plate with a hole for the 10mm bolt" to hold the Cable on the manifold.

I'm running one too. The FD IAT sensor has a different resistance curve than the FC one so it won't work with the stock ECU...

I'm using the FD throttle cable, it works fine.

you also need to do something with your oil fill neck. the FD one is much shorter.

I just used the FD lower section (pressed right into the FC iron) and a Respeed FD upper section.

fd cable is much better fit, you can sell the tii cable to offset some costs as well

When i had my fd upper on i was running no adapter plate,fd tps,aic,air temp sensor and cosmo oil filler kneck with a microtech,prior 2 that i was running the fd upper with stock ecu turbo n332 with a s4 tps that i had built a plate 2 make it fit and the stock air temp sensor.It did ran for a while but i always had issues with the tps going wack.

I use my own custom spacer and use the FD lower oil filler neck. FD tps is used and a p1000 Haltech.

these are some sweet setups guys....mostly all aftermarket ecus.. as much as its sweet it doesnt help me unless the answer is simply switch to an aftermarket ecu??? at this point i was quite happy with my rtek 2.1 its doing everything i need really well!! should i just give up on doing this???
Rob yu never mentioned standalone...?? and what fan shroud is that???
Joey is it possible that when you ran it off the n3332 with the fc tps it was just a funky tps or im assuming you used No IAC at all seeing is how im told it wont function with that ecu

I found a rising rpm adapter plate and I have fitted the FD tps, throttle cable, waiting on IAT, but I bought a IAC block off plate from banzai racing, is IAC control a necessity or can it be blocked off

Most block it.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but can anyone tell me what vacuum ports they are using and for what on the FD UIM when fitted to a s5 TII LIM? Ive found 100 threads, but most aren't clear, and the pictures don't work anymore.
