FD to FC intake manifold adapter

Guys I've been looking all over for any information regarding the adapter. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

NoDOHC 01-13-08 01:11 PM

What is this adapter?

FC LIM to FD UIM?
FD LIM to FC UIM?
FC block to FD LIM?
FD block to FC LIM? (I can't imagine why)

nope just trying to find one for a friend in South Florida and can't find anything via Google or on within a search on the forum that points me in the right direction. Who is the owner of NoPistons and what does this have to do with him? :)

I few US companies made an aluminum adapter (FEED made one in Japan) that made it very simple to bolt an FD upper intake to an S5 lower intake. I'm just trying to help a friend out. The examples of searches have been tried and there is nothing surprisingly that helps me with what I'm looking for. Thanks for your help.

Lots of useful info on the swap, but not too much in the way of info on finding an actual adapter.

Port it

I got one a few months back from fc3s91. Not sure if he still has some for sale.

Now, I am deciding how to mod the oil fill neck to properly clear the FD throttle body.

we modded the elbow instead, more work by comparison but it will give you better access to the plugs

With hind sight I think that if the adapter was a half an inch thicker that the stock oil fill neck would clear OK. Not sure about hood clearance in that case. My car does not have power steering anymore so plug access is not really an issue.. On my FD I pull the elbow off when I change the oil filter... really not a big deal.

no spacer

No spacer,no modded elbow, sits very low that it clears the strut bar.I did used a cosmo oil filter neck.

swilson@assetworks.com 05-02-12 04:55 PM

Nice, did you have to mod the cosmo fill neck to bolt to the s5 fill tube?

joeylyrech 05-02-12 05:02 PM

cosmo

i did pull out the factory oil filler bottom piece from my S5 turbo center iron and used a complete cosmo unit.First i had a REW complete oil filler tube setup but is plastic and it broke, the cosmo unit is steel that is why it was replaced with the one.

Rob XX 7 05-02-12 05:06 PM

i am not using a adapter either

swilson@assetworks.com 05-02-12 05:14 PM

So...
Without the adapter you either have to perform surgery on the TB elbow or pull the oil fill tube out of the center iron.
I am hoping for a less drastic solution... bolt on if possible. Maybe the Rising RPM will address this as part of their project.
The engine is a fresh Mazda reman and I am hesitant to try and pry out the fill tube on the assembled engine..

Yep i can tell!nice engine bay!il see that you still have ac.That is my next project ac with my bridgeported setup........

Rob XX 7 05-02-12 05:49 PM

thanks but its in rough shape in that picture, I am in the middle of set ups and those pics were just for mockup, I am doing something to my manifolds and pipes that i dont believe anyone has done yet as far as appearance goes

The ac doesnt quite operate 100% yet, its a frankenstein of components of s4 ac delete bracket and FD compressor with tensioner and custom lines. Dont think we have the pressure right yet.

swilson- without the adapter you have to port the uim and lim, the elbow is a different issue regardless of the adapter or porting

here is the porting
