FD alt pulley question
 

ok i got my FD alt today and i have a question about the pulley i'm using. I have a dual alt pulley on my alternator right now, and i would like to put it on the FD one, I know i have to bore it out but what the treads don't say is if it has to be the exact size of the shaft. is it ok if it is slightly larger than the shaft or does it have to be right on?

alex. i had a problem with my FD alt when first installing. the dual one will rub on the lip of the FD alt so it wont run properly. so what i did was buy a 1/2 inch in dia, brass tube. cut it to 3/4 inch and some rubber washers to minimize wobble of the new but brass tube. then once u put the dual pully. as you tighten that bad boy. the brass ture will eepand in there since its brass, it cant handle the pressure. once you fell its very snuge. the pully should turn freely. i added a few drops of lock-tight to the end of the nut just in case it wont lossen :)

you could also just add a few washers to the rear of the pulley or go to ebay and find the FD alt pulleys.

The brass crush washers you use on the oil cooler are a perfect fit for teh back side of the pulley.

also, on the s4 alt there is no s terminal, so what do i do with the wire that runs to the ign switch? i'll put a spade connector on the L terminal, and run a wire from the FD alt S terminal to the battery, as shown in the diagram that is floating around here. what does the ign switch need to be wired to?

One of the wires you dont use.

The S terminal on the FD alt you run to the battery. I wouldnt branch it off the wire from the B terminal. The S terminal need to see the volts at the battery, not at the alternator. Trust me do a volt test from the b terminal and then a volt test at the battery. it will be lower at the battery and thats what the alt needs to see.

I may have to do a write up on this, Its been hard finding the info i need, but thanks to you guys i found it, i'll let you know how it goes

do i need to chagne my main fuse to 100 amps?
