fcd or fuel pump?

Here is my dilema. I've heard people saying that you should get an FCD then once you have more mods get a fuel pump. Others say to get a fuel pump first, then get a FCD. What do you guys think? I don't wanna blow my motor, but i also don't want to spend on something i don't need. I have an s4 TII all stock. Thanks in advanced :)

I always do these three mods first, and all at the same time:
-Port wastegate
-fuel pump
-fcd

does the turbo have to be removed to port the waste gate? I've heard some people port it by themselves, is there a writeup?
Thanks

Yes, it must be removed.
Ted has a good website for porting... but I can't seem to load www.fc3s-pro.com.

step one boost gauge.

both the FCD and fuel pump are useless with just those 2 things... I'm asuming you plan on doing other stuff after?

What are the tools needed for porting the wastegate?
Thanks

thanks sub9lulu,

you guys know what lph is the stock pump? And if i get a 255, will it increase my gas mileage at normal driving?

Thanks

Well in your sig it says you are all stock. If you get a high flow fuel pump you will run rich and probably get a little worse gas mileage.

ok. Doesn't the ecu control the flow though? I mean, when the o2 sensor reads rich, doesn't it regulate the fuel pressure?

Thanks

I believe the o2 sensor only helps on highway cruising speeds. It puts the ECU in loop mode so you dont use more fuel than you need. Not sure if I had all the details correct or not. Anybody wanna back me up or correct me?

knightkarr 01-14-04 12:08 PM

oh yeah, your right. shoot, then as long as i'm hot running at highway constant speed, then i'll be running rich.
Thanks

if your gonna get one of em go with the fuel pump first just so u wont have to do it later. when your stock there is not much use for an fcd . but be sure to get the fcd when you get an exhaust because u will get boost creep and port that wastegate

a safc wouldn't hurt either
