Fcd & controller
 

Just about to order the full rb t2 exhaust, and have been reading around on the forums and i've noticed that people say an fcd is a must. Now the fuel cut controller that rb sells is the same thing as an fcd correct?

And, is it really necessary for me to get the controller from rb? I know it definetly is recommended, but for a while I will be running no boost controller with a ported wastegate. Now, I have been reading a bunch up on the fcd and I noticed some people are saying if you are running stock it should be fine. Technically speaking yes because fuel cut is at 8.6 psi ish. I think I should just wing it and get the fcd said and done with.

fcd is really a bandaid fix and isn't really safe for your motor for any decent power upgrades. Do some searching, specifically look for how it works, then you should see why I say that (and I'm not the only one).

it really all depends on what kind of power gains you want. for some people that want big power...go standalone.. and make sure you get the right fuel mods.

if your looking to only boost 3 or 4 psi over stock levels you technically dont really need a standalone but its alot more reliable than an fcd/safc or rtek in some situations. but not everybodies pockets are deep. standalones range from 400 (rtek2.0) to 1000-1200 dollars (AEM, haltech) etc. It really all depends on what you are looking at.

To answer your question - Plain and simple yes FCD is a Fuel cut defenser controller but be careful. If you are planing on boosting higher than stock levels. I would take in full consideration fuel upgrades and some sort of way to control timing/fuel. Your best bet is a standalone but if you cant afford one right now consider an rtek. You have been warned last thing i want is for someone to suffer the way i did when i blew my first motor in a week for not being knowledgeble (sp).

Not planning to boost 3 or 4 psi over stock without fuel upgrades. I would say I would maybe go 2 psi over. Upgrading the fuel will come in time.

I ended up ordering the fuel cut controller with the exhaust. It's better safe then sorry right?
