FC3S Rear seats- Pictures and Parts required.

I am starting this thread because theres no solid thread on rear seats. Also because there are fellow FC owners who want rear seats but dont know what all is needed for a SAFE and PROPER install. I am actually using the rear seats because of my daughter. Please post your pictures here or advice for future members. In this thread you will find a parts list and advice for missing items and modifications for missing items.

First I want to start off with all the parts required to install rear seats properly.

1-Seat bottom
2-Seat Back
3-Seat back hinges (2)- mount to rear towers locks the seat backs
4-Seat back lower pivot bracket- Left and Right secures the bottom of the back to the chassis.
5-Carpet- Front -goes under the bottom cushion
6-Carpet- Rear- Mounts to rear seat and goes all the way to rear tire secure knobs
7- Seat Belts - 2 buckles and two straps

My custom install advice because I didnt have the carpets or side panels with cutouts-
Carpet-
I did not have the original rear seat carpets so I used the rear bins carpet. I cut the carpet in half so i can install the front carpet section. Then the rear i tucked it under the bottom cushion.

Seat Back hinges panel cut outs-
I did a small slit so the brackets can go through the side panels. No biggie if done properly you will never tell. Then secure with 2 bolts per bracket. These brackets is what secures the seat upright. Without them the rear seats are worthless. Be carefull when buying rear seats if they dont have the brackets good luck finding them they are even rare than the seats.

Heres a solid platform you want to buy if you are looking for a set. If they dont have the brackets seats are useless and not safe for use!!!!!!!!!!

I will update with my pics tomorrow once seats dry up from the cleaning.

yo Alex,

I had JTP make some brackets for me so the back stays up. ill take a pic of it in the morning.

My girl has been nagging so hard lately because i dont have back seats, but i think its about time to get the back seats.
My big question is, will there even be any leg room? Are they practicle?

Please share them, one of the hinges failed on my setup. After looking at them, I dont see how those could be consider safe :icon_tdow

FC rear seat is a joke.... it's more like for decoration. I sat back there once for 10 minutes and I got a really bad backache...

clokker 08-12-12 11:39 AM

I think the primary purpose of those seats was that In Japan you got an insurance discount if it wasn't a 2 seat sports car.
It had to have been something like that because even small children get folded like origami to sit in them.

those rear seats are perfect if you have a baby....

Guess it depends how tall/big you are. I've sat in them for 300 mile trips, not the most comfy, but they do their job.

Have to agree. I once put a couple of 7yr olds back there and they complained. I like it for a place to put my laptop bag and having a boxed-in area in the back for groceries.

On installation, it seemed pretty simple to me. I moved the back seat into two different cars; it's now in my AE project and I wouldn't do without it. the bins are okay, but the seat is way more useful...just not for sitting a person.

Did you ever get a picture of that rear bracket you had made up? I've recently bought a set but I think I'm missing some parts. I believe they're the lower pivot brackets.

bracket pics

sorry for the delay. i have been having smart phone issues. and im nothing without my smart phone.

so when i got the car from battlecat 3 years ago. he threw in some back seats. pretty pointless most of the time ( i just toss in random stuff computer in them) but they do come in handy when you want to transport tiny asian girls.

i still wanted them to fold down when i had to transport bigger things in the hatch. so jtp fabbed me some hinges at the base of the back rest of the seats. they just pop into the holes on the left and right corners and he fabbed me some easy to remove pins for "quick release" please pardon the shitty pictures. if you need more let me know.

I have shitload of rear seat parts if you guys need anything.
Pretty much all FC's here in europe do have rear seats.

And our seatbelts are in the b-pillar, same like front seatbelts (which means, b-pillar plastics are different too, as seatbelt rolls from them.....)

Dr!freak 09-02-12 03:26 PM

FC's have back seats? LOL! Just gut it :)

My girl say the same crap about why I do not have backseats. I just pretended I did not hear her say that.

What's the purpose of them anyways? My 2- year old daughter could not even fit back there with her baby-seat.

It is possible to put a car seat in the back seat. Other then that they aren't good for much.

I would like to see some of those euro seat belts too, as soon i have 6 months until my car has to have rear seats and would prefer shoulder belts.

PhillyRX 04-05-13 10:16 PM

i have rear carpet in gray if anyone needs it. received it thinking it was for a 2 seater. will let it go cheap pm me.

Low Key FC GXL 04-16-13 07:49 AM

You can order almost every part new, but the strikers that latch the seat back to the car... which happens to be the most important and hard to find piece. But I'm searching for suitable donors.

hIGGI 04-18-13 03:22 PM

Still have probably 5 complete sets of rearseats including hardware and seatbelts, its just matter of digging them out if somebody would have wanted them :)

I got rear seats for my daughter still in a car seat. not a lot of leg room but she fits, its mostly the way our car seat is designed that makes little leg room. bottom goes out pretty far. I'm 5'4" so the seat is up pretty far too. basically though when she is out of a booster seat, it is probably a no go. not to mention kids can't look out the window to well with our huge pillars. She only rides in my FC if its absolutely the last resort. otherwise we use the gf's subaru lol.

also, you can make the strikers/latches for the towers pretty easily yourself if you are missing them. just look at them, the latch isn't too precise. they aren't that special.
