I just bought a hi 6s is that the same as the one they used on fc3s.org summit racing told me its just and updated version but he didnt sound to sure

(heres alil background my leading coil acts up when its humid, loss of power sputtering and I just ordered a new one from mazdatrix with some msd wires and the hi6s box from summit)

If you got the "HI6S", you got the wrong one.&nbsp We recommend the "HI6", which is a CDI box.&nbsp The HI6S is not CDI.

FC3S.Org does not mention a "HI6S" - it does mention "HI6".

HI6s is an ignition "Booster" it just boosts the signal... so it doesn't really help. Don't worry, i made that mistake too.

ted - get yer damn website up!!!! I like reading it.

Besure to hook up the Blue Wire to have It configured properly. Eitherwise It will be set up for 8 cylinder as opposed to 4 cylinder/Rotary.

that's if he doesn't return it for the HI6...

What is diff between the two??

In regards to the Crane Cams HI-6 Box-

"The blue wire when hooked to 12V sets the CDI multi spark duration, It allso tells the CDI unit how many revs or ignition pulses there are.

When the blue is hooked up to the trailing signal module it sees 4 strikes per two shaft revolutions, which means the unit knows when 3000rpm is actually happening (cause this is the same strike rate as a 4cy 4 stroke"4 ignition pulses per 2 engine RPM's") and so it can turn off the "multi spark" which can trail for up to 30 deg of crank rev after the ignition point, if it is firing near TDC or say 10deg before usually in wasted mode this spark would happen in the exhaust cycle, but because it can go for up to 30 deg after the ignition point you could see how it could infact fire well before it is meant to in the compression stroke of the wasted chamber. Hence this could be a problem if it is not turning off this feature at higher rpm. I am guessing but this could be a problem if it is possible, I will check on the weekend and see if it is infact possible on a part assembled motor".

I just did a lil research and the hi6s is not recomended for distributorless ignitions. So I guess I can't use this unless someone knows otherwise??

(edit the plug and play isnt gonna work not the box it self srry)

silverrotor 09-24-03 10:38 PM

The manual does suggest that It's not compatible for Rotaries. I say rubbish.:D I 've been with the Crane Cams HI-6 for almost 3yrs now and know of more than a handful of FC owners that have this aswell.

It also says that It's not compatible with the Rotary on their site too, If I remember correctly...
