FC won't start - no fuel or no spark?
Okay, here's the deal -
I'm driving an S4 (87) n/a, stock for all practical purposes, got about 25k miles on a rebuilt engine, and at the same time got new fuel pump, new injectors, new ignition coils, etc. I drove the car two days ago, and it ran 100% normal. Tried to start it today, and it'll sit there and crank and crank but won't actually fire up so I think I'm either not getting fuel or not getting a spark. What's a good starting point as far as things to test? **I should note, the guy who rebuilt my engine installed a kill switch (pretty sure it's for the fuel injectors, in case the engine floods) |
Did you bother to check if ur not getting either fuel or spark?

Damn touch screens, scrolled up to reread ur post and hit wrong button. To test your fp, jump the fuel test connector and turn your key on. The fuel pump should come on and stay on. As for spark check out a fsm for ignition part specs and check em out. You could always disable the fuel system pull a sparkplug out have someone crank the car over and see if ur getting spark

Where's the fuel test connector?
I've got a way to test spark, but need a second person here to help crank while I check under the hood. I checked EGR fuses and they're all good. |
Fuel check connector is a yellow two pin connector near the passenger shock tower. With key to on, jumper this connector and you should hear the fuel pump running. Also, this happened to me last week: make sure the switch itself for the kill switch isn't busted.

Check the mass air flow. It controls the fuel pump. Ran into the same problem with my '89, to test it i held the cone in ( i used a screw driver to hold it in, if you can find a helper you could do it by hand ) and tried firing it up. Ran after that.
