FC Vert Highbeams... FINALLY working, without replacing FC66 CPU

This is my first post here, I've been lurking for a couple of years, hoping that somebody would eventually post a fix that would make my High Beams work. I've replaced a couple of FC66 body CPUs, and we all know that unfortunately, it's a temporary fix at best, because it was designed incorrectly in the first place.

Well, I found a solution, and it works like a charm. The dimmer switch on the turn signal stalk functions as it's supposed to, and there's nothing obvious that has changed, the car appears completely stock.

The solution is to grab a little electronics module that I found on Amazon, snip a couple wires, get power and ground to the module and POOF, like magic... the high beams work as designed.

A couple of hints... The 12V+ needs to go to 12V that is hot when the ignition is on, and NOT hot all the time. There is a handy place to grab the Ground right next to the FC66, there's a ground bolt already there.

WRAP THE MODULE in something to prevent short circuits... but be careful not to depress the test switch on the module board.

The module is inexpensive and easy to install... when this is installed, the dash light for high beams also works. There is one minor annoyance... if you turn your ignition off when your highbeams are on, they will dim to normal beams. No big deal in my mind, it kind of feels like a nice feature.

I hope this helps people to resolve the issue without having to install some other outboard manual switch, it's sure great to have the stalk dimmer working again!

What year was the RX7 you fixed? Mine is a 1991 Convertible with Air Bag.

Mine is a 1990 Vert/Airbag... this fix will work on your 1991, no problem!

I have this problem.

Thanks for posting.

Thanks for posting the solution, vert owners everywhere will probably continue to bump this thread for years. @Mike Morgan - do you have photos of your installation?

Thanks for coming up with this fix and for sharing. I just did this and it works great.

One slight correction to note: On the diagram of the circuit board you correctly show the "C" terminal going to the high beam relay on the small FC66 connector, but the correct wire color is white, not white/blue. See figure below. below.

Here is an image of the large connector showing the pin to the high beam dimmer:
