Ok...
Well because I'm WAY to fucking nice...

Here's just random bits of info that I have saved that I can find...

INFINI TECH:
Also in 1991 Mazda created the Japanese market only Infini IV (pronounced on'-fin-ee) (I hate when ppl say it wrong).

Stripped of all Savanna or RX-7 identification, this was the last limited edition ultra high performance version of the 2nd-generation RX-7. A factory hot rod, the Infini IV was lightened (to 2770 lb.), by stripping out the extras, reducing the noise dampening material and using lighter parts including lightweight, perforated suede like material racing style seats. With a revised suspension (shocks 25% stiffer, springs 10% stiffer and lowered 1") Special Pirelli designed P-Zero tires, ultra lightweight 16 inch BBS wheels and a bright red front strut brace, the handling improved to a skidpad of .91 Gs. The Infini IV (as with most 91 models) also came with the tighter steering rack from the 89-90 North American GTUs model. Molded knee Pads at the driver's door side and center console were added to help brace the driver's legs while cornering, while a "dead pedal" bar ran the length of the passengers floor. An emergency flare and holder were also mounted just under the glove box.

Similar again to the US spec 1989 and 1990 GTUs; the Infini IV came with the 4.3 rear end final gear (but also used a new Torsen Limited Slip Differential), minimal extras, but no air conditioning, or even a CD/Cassette (however it did come with power windows and used the light weight power window motors from the convertibles). Power was bumped to 215 HP (JIS), largely by changing the exhaust to a free flowing design and revised ECU. 0-60 performance was 6.5 and the quarter mile time dropped to 14.9, with Infini specific brake pads helping make an impressively matching braking force of 60-0 in 141 ft (8 feet less than the standard RX-7 Turbo). The Infini IV was only available in a custom black/green metallic paint (Nobel Green Pearl Clearcoat, Mazda paint code VQ). Unfortunately, the Infini IV was not imported to North America other than a single press version that was returned back to Japan after the press tour.

The Infini IV, also came with the Bronze tinted glass found in the US spec 10th Anniversary edition, and was available in one of two custom black/green metallic paint colors. Of the 600 made, the first 300 cars built on limited production runs between June - Dec 1990 were painted Mazda paint code GU (Shade Green) while the last 300 cars built starting Jan 1991 through February 1991 were paint code VQ. Of these last 300, 20 of them where sent to MazdaSpeed for the MazdaSpeed Package which only did minor cosmetic changes like MazdaSpeed embroidered seats, MazdaSpeed steering wheel and shift knob.

ZOMG a picture!!!

There was also an Infini III, which was slightly less tweaked.

In fact the GTUs was kind of an N/A Infini III

JustJeff 04-15-10 12:55 AM

Damn I love that paint color. Been thinking of putting that on my vert for some time now.

full-cruise 04-15-10 02:54 AM

does anybody have any stock picks of the inside/outside of a stock one? ..

87GTR 04-15-10 09:02 AM

Lets just clean some of this up

The ECU is the same ECU as the in all the FC3S in Japan. In the Mazda parts catalog there is no sperate number for an infini ECU
japanese = N374

The Power window motor is the same as all the other FC's in japan
I changed out mine a few weeks ago

They all came with A/C
Radio was optional.

I have never seen a Infini painted VQ I have only seen Shade Green and brilliant Black

The Winning limited was painted Shade Green
the FC3C Final Version was Shade Green

No where is my educated guess. USDM it was only on the anniversary car. Perhaps the bronze glass was offered on some JDM RX's other than the Infini IV?

If you click on the links provided you'll see the same car with an OEM looking spoiler. The one in the pic imbedded in this thread is aftermarket....I think????

I believe many years ago I was close to buying some Infini wheels off of you. IIRC you had two sets.

Anyway, VQ code is Nordic Green and GU code is Shade Green? Before the economy bottomed out I was looking into painting my car. The supply store has a record of and can mix Nordic Green but not Shade Green. Mazda later put Nordic Green on some of it's USDM cars, though I don't remember which ones. This is all going on memory.

87GTR if you had any pictures of VQ compared to GU that would be nifty. Back when I was interested in such things I tried finding it but didn't,

What I just turned up is this and it doesn't match what I found at my local store
http://www.automotivetouchup.com/cho...l=All%20Models

It lists a HU code of British Racing Green

The wing that was on my car was not a Mazda factory wing. it was a RE - Amemiya wind and rear bumper caps. The Infini III and IV has the stock wing on it.

Some of the Infini II's has a low profile wing on them just like the sports wing sold in the states. but the didnt have a cut out for the 3rd brake light. I will see if I can dig up a picture. I have one in my shed im going to put on my version 4 when it gets painted I hope next month

HU is british racing green, they first used it on the miata in 91 and then again later in like 2001

i'm not sure anymore which one of the other two is which, but i think VQ was used on the USDM 929's and 96+ protege's, but if you do a little searching i think that's not the real infini color. at the time we just looked up touch up paint at the dealership, and i'm pretty sure i have a VQ touch up paint

Around the time I was looking into paint codes I did see a Protege with a dark dark green metallic. That's in addition to the shop owner and I finding the code on some newer model Mazda sedan type cars.

This all seems very familiar

Good info

So the Infini IIs had what we in the US call duckbill spoiler but without the brake light opening. That would make sense with the model years matching.

Do you happen to know if the Shade Green code on your Infini IV is available in supply shops in Japan? I'd love to get my hands on that info and be able to take it to a supply shop here and get the paint mixed. Knowing I had the authentic shade would go along way towards me deciding if a change of color was in my car's future.

Well i know that the glass came on more than just the USDM aniversary car lmao i just dont wanna import it. So if i could find it IN the us then that would be the ideal situation and thanks for the info on the spoiler im trying to look for one but i cant find it.

lmao i know, we did this before!

um if you search mtnracer, he and i did a bunch of research. he actually has the brochures and stuff. the car didn't turn out to be very authentic, but its still cool

we took a GTUs, put the t2 drivetrain and side skirts and stuff on it, it does have the enfini wheels, and strut bar. but it stayed white with a knightsports wing.

Fleemer 04-16-10 02:46 PM

what these cars?

The Winning limited was painted Shade Green
the FC3C Final Version was Shade Green

My rx7 is paint code GU, comes with the red front strut bar but no other infini things such as bronze tinted glass (will have to check for 4.3 rear end and torsen diff)

ITs a 1991, no casset just radio aswell. No markings on the car, and the steering wheel si a momo but the button isn't an infini.

Good stuff to know. If you could send me a PM or email (reedjeffr@gmail.com) I'd love to see what info you turned up. Before the economy and my income took a hit I was thinking of painting my red vert either black, GU or VQ. My seats were starting to wear and tear so once I was to that point possibly doing a custom seat with either a brown/tan center or dark mustard to try and cut some of the heat from a dark on dark vert.

Something similar to this but black on the outside cushions and colored on the center seat and back. Leaving the headrest all black and possibly accenting it with same colored stitching.

But much changed with the economy. I need a rebuild on my engine and I'm back in school for a 2nd degree. So money is tight tight TIGHT!! Good side of all this is that I just landed a 2nd job with a friend of a friend's auto shop so more money and more access to better tools has me all kinds of happy.

search here! i did a little looking and he posted a lot of it. i will see if he can find the brochure

yeah i dig the black interior/tan seats, its cool. the VQ would be easy to do, its really dark though, and looks like ass when its dirty, ive seen vq proteges and well, they don't make it look sexy....

the GU looks a little greener?

I agree on the VQ protege, i wasn't impressed with the paint I saw

Oh, I misunderstood you. I didn't know you and the other person had talked about the paint via this site. I might have made a thread about the paint codes a few years ago, but I don't remember if I did for sure or what that content might have been. If it was made it was very surface level as I was just starting to look into paint options.

I really like the dark verts. Before my red one I owned a black one and my father owns both a black and a red one. The dark paint really brings something out of the car. The vert black top, black emblems, black license plate bracket. Too boot dark paint brings out the darker tint of the taillights and window tint. But I do feel like a hardboiled egg at times with the black interior.

While my engine is out for it's rebuild it would make the perfect time to change the color on the car. Hence, my interest in this thread.....we'll see what the finances allow.
