FC car theft rate?
 

More so Tii's, whats the the theft like on these cars? i live in an area where theft is common(my brothers modded Scions havent even been broken into though, yet), Honda's are stolen like crazy here.

The most commonly stolen cars are -surprise, surprise!- the most common cars.

With the exception of cars stolen for joyrides and those with keys left dangling, most cars are stolen for parts and I would suspect that RXs of any generation are simply not numerous enough to bother with.

This is a good point, but wheels and turbo componets are universal.

in my area, the FC theft rate seems to be negative, the dont get stolen, they get dropped off....

Just make a cut switch. Hide it somewhere. :) Have it disconnect the EGI.

if your car was as ugly as mine, theft isnt an issue. I dont even lock my car (due to the fact that when i purchased it, there were no keys to it, it had sat for numerous years).

these really dont get stolen, no market for parts.

Friend of mine in Vancouver had most of his Infini stripped for some unique parts, but its an isolated incident, and the theives knew what they were doing.

The only real danger I see (above any other car being stolen that is) is in an aftermarket radio setup. Head unit / subs are universal and stereo components are common targets for low-life thieves.

rx7's arnt often stolen especially fc's. seeing as how the fc is fairly abundunt compared to other rx7's i wouldnt worry about it. lock you doors if you can but aside of that i wouldnt worry to much

But still a little worried because if i buy one, im sure people will know what i have done to it, and word gets passed around fast.

If someone can steal my FC then Ill know exactly where to look. Only a few other people that I know personally know how to start my car up. And if someone can learn how to start it, get passed my malibu that I have blocking the driveway, and drive off with my FC before Im able to run outside with my AK, they deserve to have it :/

Well then, you follow some simple rules:

As KingCobraV9 said above, "lock your doors." Actually, *always* lock your doors and close the windows when you leave your car; this a good habit to get into.

Never leave your keys in the ignition, even if you're gone for just a minute.

Never keep a spare key in your car; thieves know every single hiding place.

Keep personal belongings out of view, locked in the glove box or storage containers (if yours has them). Some thefts are snatch-and-grab.

Make it less enticing to steal. For example, iInstall an alarm system (use generic decals, not make/model specific ones, and consider putting the siren under the dashboard, making it very uncomfortable for a thief). Use wheel and hood locks. Drop business cards with your name and contact info inside doors and in-between panels for identification purposes.

Park in well-lighted areas where people are around.

For what it's worth, I've had my 1988 GTU since 2001 and I've never had any problems with vandalism or theft. I've left it parked on a neighborhood street in New Jersey, in an attended lot in Lund, British Columbia, and various locales without a hitch.

I've decided to install an alarm system only because I want to add keyless entry, remote hatch release, and remote venting/closing of the sunroof.

But for installation, I'm going very as far as gutting the entire interior and reworking all the interior wiring harnesses. The sunroof harness is likely going to be completely revamped. This is to make the system as secure and difficult to bypass as possible.

The brain is going to be anywhere except under the dash (the first place a thief looks). Instead of mounting the siren in the engine compartment, it's going up under the dash to give a would-be thief second-thoughts. All the wiring will follow factory cable runs; in some cases, it'll be part of the factory wiring. There will be a backup battery and other little details (such as using generic decals and a generic red LED instead of the blue one) to make things as difficult as possible for a thief.

Feather apparently you live in a small town, if word gets around fast. And that means if you do have a modded FC, and someone steals it. Won't they stick out like a sore thumb? Civics are different.

Just set up a kill switch kind of a deal, you can set up some pretty slick theft deterrent setups with a little bit of work too.

For example a buddy of mine just built a setup for his toyota where in order to even get the starter to engage he has to honk the horn first, maybe an idea if your mostly worried about the car itself getting stolen, not just the parts.

i live in LA, in kinda a not the best part. but not scary. i dont tell anybody whats done to my car when they ask unless i know them personally. i dont boost, and i dont drive fast near my house. and i never let people see what audio i have in my car.

just dont be dumb and people wont know. hide your stuff. always take off your face plate. dont bump your subs before you park somewhere for a while. dont show off your cars BOV around a lot of people.

make your car look like a POS like mine! besides people in LA would rather steal a porsche or BMW or something. not a run down 88t2 lol
