fan mod wiring melted -- need help :/

about 30min ago, the 7' of wires that comprise the PO's halfassed "fan mod" decided to short and burn out completely. (the engine cranked over very slow, then tons of smoke out of engine bay and into passenger compartment) -- i emptied half an industrial fire extinguisher into the engine bay, so it's good now, but i have no idea if there was any collateral damage so to speak I'm going to check it out tomorrow.
are there any major wires from the a/c fan around the front (ahead of the a/c radiator) and up the drivers side of the engine bay that i should make 120% sure about (conductivity, etc)?

thanks in advance.

Were the fan wires bundled up with the harness wires, or were they "stragglers"?

The amount of damage depends on if they were stock wires or not, I would think...

Why didn't the fuse blow?

err... no fuse, but w/e, the wires were stragglers, in their own bundle of two
with another wire from the + terminal to inside the car (going to the switch area) -- green and black wires from fan straight to inside switch + pos terminal to inside switch.

In that case there might not be much "collateral" damage, as you put it. Please fuse the rewire job, and things like this won't happen again...
