Falken or Nitto
 

Im lookin at buying either some Falken Ziex ZE-512s or Nitto NT NeoGen ZR......
Just wanted some input....

I have yet to find a good gripping Falken tire.

Nitto all the way.

have you tried the rt-615? those work pretty well. i also really liked the kumho exta mx. what are your plans with the car? ziex dont really grip well at all. i dont know about the nittos

I have the falken 452's, they're great. I haven't tried any other tire on my car, so can't really compare.

I've been happy with my Ecsta MXs but I managed to chunk one of them at Thunderbolt in not very many hot laps. As a street tire they're very nice though.

I'm trying to decide between these and RE-01R's. Anyone had personal experience with both? How do each compare to each other?

Go for the Falken RT-615 or the Falken Ziex-912 if you want something that'll last a whole lot longer. Kuhmo's AST is pretty nice as well.

Personally I prefer the 615s for their predictable road holding and good wet weather feel (Street, not race). However, as a general letdown, the tire is pretty numb and a tad noisy.

re01r's are on sale last i checked, since they are being discontinued and replaced by re-11's

I think the 512s were discontinued and replaced with the 452?

No experience with Nitto.

Azenis RT-615 is a good sticky tire, and I have had decent experience in wet. Don't try in snow... or even cold weather. I would imagine 12-15k as being the max milage but it is cheap for the stickiness. 225/50r15's around $630/set shipped.

ZE-512 is a somewhat sticky high performance summer tire that could be driven in snow (wouldn't recommend). It is being fazed out for the 912 but there is still stock (sometimes disco'd) at some retailers. Probably could get 20-25k miles out of it. 225/50r15's around $275/set shipped.

ZE-912 is a less sticky high performance all season. Supposed to address some of the treadwear issues while still having some stick but I would only autocross on it if it was once in awhile. Probably more like 30-40k miles. 225/50r15's around $350 shipped.

I am partial to both the 512 and 615 Falkens. While they tend to be not great choices in poor weather conditions or poor road conditions, they a very very predictable on a FC and reasonably quiet, and very long lasting (in the performance tire world). Toss in that they are both about $100 per tire for the 512 and $130 for the 615 (both on the 225/50-16 size) helps as well.

Can't say the same for Nitto 450 which were so bad I got rid of them at about 3000 miles. Because of my experience with them I wouldn't consider any other Nitto

just got the fronts put on this week.. 225/45/18 all around no stagger. feels great.. of course tho it all comes down to driver preference. I am not a fan of Nitto.

Well considering I sell both these lines I would suggest the Nitto's. You will be much happier with the way they ride, and handle. The only falken I would suggest would be the rt-615 however do not expect great wet or longevity out of this tire. The neo-gen will perform well, and last.

Falken 512 - discontinued, replaced by the 912. The 912 is designed as a high performance touring tire. Will give a quiet ride, last 50000 km or more. I find with these however when installing them, I get a lot of comebacks due to vibration issues - falken trait.

Nitto Neogen - All season performance tire(do not use in cold winters), quiet ride, long life(50000 plus km). The nice thing on Nitto is they balance amazingly. Also Nitto is the premium line for Yokohama for those that did not know.

Both are solid choices, however I think you would be happier with the performance of a Nitto, and I personnally run Nitto Invo's on my TII, and previously was running RT615's.

I do not believe this is true. Nitto is under Toyos umbrella AFAIK. Yokohama is it's own "Premium line;" Have you SEEN how much A08s are?

ADVAN i believe, is Yokohama's premium line.

There's no way Nitto is Yoko's premium line, since none of their street tires even come close to the Advan Neova which is a 3 year old tire.

912s are terrible in snow. Terrible.

falken 912s SUCK i put them on my s2000 they suckass i work at honda i have lost count of how many times i have seen accords come in with 912s. if you put 912s on your sports car dont expect much from your car anymore...
