Extending manual window handles

Need some suggestions on fixing an issue. We put my CDT's out of my scooby into my gtu, and with the grills on the speakers it protroudes too much out for the window handle to rotate fully. Can anyone point me to solution, I've tried to find an aftermarket set that would work but havent found anything. Maybe even somehow extending the stock door handles. Basically interested in any suggestions other than converting to power windows which is something I will not do.

Also , I've expolored the idea of shaving down the speaker grills, but theres literally too much meat to make it work.

Will have pictures later tonight to show exactly what the issue is.

Thanks,

Ark

Shave the window handles? The handle attaches to a notched gear. A clip goes in the notch and holds the handle to the gear. I think the gear itself is pretty much stuck where it is. So I think the handle is stuck where it is. You could try pulling it apart and looking at it yourself. You need to squeeze the horshoe clip behind the handle before you pull the handle off. Don't force the handle off or you'll break it. Good luck...

Yeah the handles are off, that was the easy part. Just need to figure out how to extend them or maybe someone can point me to an aftermarket set that might work, something that sticks out farther than the stock handles do.

Why not just sell those speakers and buy something shallow enough to fit flush with the door panel?

Or you could use some imagination and build your own handles. I have already designed three different styles in my head before I finished reading this thread. And 4 places in walking distance from my bedroom to get my supplies/needed tools.

because that would be the easy way out, and who likes to make things easy around here.....

Because I already have these in there, I've had them for a few years and they still sound amazing, especially for what I listen too, and they have awesome mid's and highs without being overly bassey. They arent really worth much now, but I'd rather figure out how to make these work then splurge 200 bucks on something I wont like as much.

I mean I've ran through a few idea's of getting another set and just splicing the main ends together to make the spline part longer. But like I said I'm sure I'm not the first person with this issue so I figured maybe someone could point me to a set of handles that might just work out of the box. Can't hurt to ask....

Basically like I said, I'd rather make these work and enjoy what I have then have to get new speakers.

flush speaker Mounts?..instead of Covers that Protrude out off the Door Card?..If you can put the speaker Back Into the Door a touch, then just get a Flush speaker cover.then you don't have to worry about the window cranks Hitting the speaker Cover..OR put a Socket on your Window Crank Gear, and use a Small Battery operated screwdriver as a "motor' To make your windows go up and down!(..too much coffee!..LOL!)
