Experiences with cleaned fuel injectors?
 

I have an extra set of injs and need to send them out.

I have used RC Engineering in the past, and have heard good things about marren. What about witchhunter.com?

What I am looking for is personal experiences. thanks!

I've used both RC and Cruzin, they both do an equal job, though I saved a bit at Cruzin.

cruzin was great! they replaced everything from grommets to o-rings and pintle caps. For 12 an injector you can't beat it.

As a follow up, cruizin performance was great, couldnt beat the price (around $55 plus $6 s/h) and the injectors came back looking brand new. he also supplied injector grommets as an added bonus. Highly recommended :)

WitchHunter did my injectors a while back when he was ramping up. I met him in person to drop off and pick up my injectors. Very amiable fellow.

The results were superb. I got back injectors that looked brand new with all new grommets and pintle caps. You get a before and after results report as well.

I don't think you could beat this guy, on performance or price.

I've never understood sending injectors halfway across the country just to get them cleaned. Save yourself some time and money by finding a local diesel service shop that also cleans fuel injectors. Same service, half the price, no postage, much quicker turnaround. That's my experience anyway.

Just a little FWI, Cruzin and Witchunter are the same place. :) The guy's a regular Ted Kazenski though, so it's all good. ;) And yes, I've met him...

Another question for those who have sent theirs away: how long did it take, from when you sent them out to when you had them returned?

Maybe 2 weeks. I bought a spare set. If you need a set to send off, I have a set of four n/a injectors.

Beat me to it. Aside from that, the turnaround of these local shops is generally about a day, and you have someone to talk to if there is a problem.

Mine took two days because they happened to be really busy. Two weeks? Stuff that...

I think ppl are just to lazy to go and find a place locally. I used cruzin and they did a wonderfull job and it ended up getting rid of my 3500rpm hesitation.

reason some people want to go to like witch hunter and cruzin is because a) they have no reputable diesel mechanics and b) even if they did all they do is run them through a little stupid machine that doesn't do half what the guys at cruzin do. Also I've taken my injectors to a local guy and he couldn't tell me jack about the injectors let alone really knew what he was doing. He put them in the machine and said "ok now we are cleaning them first"...."3 secons later ok now they are clean". Then he couldn't tell me what cc they where and a veriaty of other things that cruzin could. Also I had to buy the little filters after he was done where as cruzin for 12 bux an injector, including the cleaning and detailed report, got me new orings, grommets, pintle caps, internal filter and, sandblasted and painted my injectors......I saw no comparison between a shop that does this on the side and someone that does this exclusively.

^^Exactly. Cruizin exceeded my expectations. Plus, I do not drive either of my RX-7s on a daily basis so 2 weeks wasn't a big deal--i told him not to rush.

My injectors were cleaned using the same methods and equipment used by the "specialists" for less than half their price. Included new o-rings and a report, which proved they were meatching the factory specs exactly. It's not a side business either; cleaning injectors (whether petrol or diesel) is a core service of any decent diesel service workshop.

Sandblasting and painting seems like time and money spent for no good reason, but that's just me. :)

Since my sevens are not DD's I just sent mine out to RC, but I will have to scope out some local shops that offer the service.:)

The diesel shop I use has a full time employee that does nothing but clean and flow test injectors. The last set I brought in were done the same day, came with a printout and image of flow and spray pattern for each injector, had new rubbers, new pintle caps and cleaned strainers as well as a new paint job (in a colour of my choice if I remember to ask at the front desk) and cost $22 per injector with no shipping. :)

Most communities of any size will have multiple injection shops. Generally these are listed in the "diesel" section of the yellow pages but sometimes there is an "injection" area (London has heavy industry as well as GM Diesel, General Dynamics, 3M and Diamond Aircraft so we have an "injection" section in the phone book). Most diesel shops will also have a gas injector cleaning rig and the appropriate equipment (ultrasonic solvent bath, etc.). Since this is part of their core business, they will be happy to do the job.

FWIW, I just talked with Cruzin Performance and learned that they have stopped cleaning side-feed injectors.

They gave me a flow chart and everything else. The prices were pretty good ($15/inj), and they worked fast. I talked to them about their experiences for a while, and they are mostly a v8 type shop. they put fuel injection systems on old hot rods and such. Although they weren't too familiar with the rotary engine, they could find anything I needed for a fuel system and at fair prices.
