Experience with CS wide front fenders, or "over-fenders"

The wheels that I am getting for my FC are a 17x8, with a 24mm offset. Obviously, this is going to put them out past the stock fender a tad, Im thinking about 29mm if Im thinking correctly. So, something it going to need to be done so that I dont rub. I was looking at the corksport "over-fender" set, but I dont know if I like the idea of mouling them in.

Most cases that Ive seen fibderglass moulded into steel it began to crack within a few years. I also dont just want to leave them un-moulded, becuase I think that looks pretty ghetto. I was then just going to get the wide front fenders,

but Im then afraid thats going to give a little too much clearance, and make the wheel look sunken in, and look bad. Also I cant tell how those fenders would look with the rest of the car being stock-bodied. Does anyone have any experience with either of these products, or pics of them on a car?

you can always get a wheel adapter or get a spacer and some extended wheel studs.

I prefer the look of the wide fenders much better because it keeps the body line going straight instead of making it bump up.

anyone have anymore pics of the wide fenders installed?

Looking for more pictures of these installed, or people with actual experience using them...

I have the overfenders on my car. I love them, and gonna actually fill them with nice wheels later, after the motor suspension and tranny upgrades. While the car is in peices, I'm gonna remove the front fenders and mould, and cut the fenders and flares to make them look perfect.

take pictures.....

SO, are those over fenders steel, or fiberglass? I guess I never asked, I just assumed they were FG..

Both of the above products are fiberglass. :)

i don't think they have sold many sets. those corksport pics fit like CRAP and I'm told they are the original FEED pieces in the shots.

i have those fenders going on my car right now as we speak but my car won't be out for 2-3 weeks i have a lot of stuff getting done at the body guy. ill post when its done, one of my friends is getting his done it should be out at end of next week

rmaier 03-12-04 09:30 AM

I'm finna go with some of thems when I get my wheels. Get some big lip to go with those bad boys.

venomrx7 03-12-04 09:43 AM

When I got the overfenders, I just heated them a little because it was cold outside. the fit perfect. There are already little marks where you need to drill for the rivets, and the body line matched up, right on.

When I mould them, i'm not using rivets, i'm cutting the original metal part so It will fit flush, then use fiberglass to secure everything.

Rxmfn7 03-12-04 09:49 AM

I think Im just going to get the wide fenders for the front...and then if it looks funny get the over fenders for the rear. I just really hate to mould fiberglass into steel...

venomrx7 03-12-04 10:08 AM

the only reason I didn't get the whole fenders is cause i think the vents and all are overkill, but whatever you like.

Bukwild 03-12-04 10:21 AM

I think these fenders look like shit. I was thinking of swaping my s4 fenders with some s5. And if you think that the wheels will stick out of the wheel wells just get some camber plates. Will be more effective than fender flares

flubyux2 03-12-04 10:28 AM

you do realize there is no discernable difference between S4 and S5 fenders... there was a huge debate on that already.

the complete fender is a better proposition i feel. im planning on getting them for my GTUs cuz my passengerside is already bashed in. the Overfenders are best when moulded in, but the expansion rate of steel and fiberglass are different... i would defnitly be worried about cracks in the future. there should be a proper way to do it. a real fiberglass worker, like boat hull repairman or something, should be able to mix up a resin that could possibly work w/ steel and give long service life.

btw, any idea how much farther the CS fenders stick out past stock?

They claim 30mm more clearance, which would be about perfect for my application Id think..

Well , I personally think the CS fenders look awesome, but I guess thats just all personal taste. And could you explain to me how camber plates would do anything for me, beside be able to make the wheel have an extermemly negative camber to not rub, causing increased tire wear and shitty handling characteristics. I think the wide fender will the most effective thing to do...

flubyux2 03-12-04 10:37 AM

it is the most effective, you dont need to fuck up the camber just to get the wheels to tuck w/o rubbing.

i would totally get spacers for my car... but the question is; where do you get longer wheel studs?

wheel bearing wear is not a problem for me, i can replace both in the front in an hour.

Molding Fiberglass to metal is a nightmare!! trust me it won't get out of the drive way before it cracks...
Found this out while trying to mold a summit racing hood scoop to an 86 Chevy Blazer....
(the Blazer was not mine I was helping)
